"What an incredible stay for us. First time to a ryokan (i.e., traditional Japanese inn w/ onsen). What an experience! Hotel is somewhat confusing to navigate, but that is part of the adventure. The public onsen was incredible (note: they swap the male and female sides, so pay ATTENTION!). The room we stayed in was "traditional" in that we had five futons atop tatami. Haven't selpt that well in a long time! The in-room onsen was a bit old school (basically a deep tub), but still oh so magical....

A short walk to the Atami station and walking street as well as the Atami shopping area with many restaurants available. Nice ocean view from the east tower and the beach is just across the hotel. Hotel staffs were friendly and helpful, housekeeping did a good job in ensuring the room was clean and well maintained."
