Tre Cime di Lavaredo, Sexten Dolomites, South Tyrol, Italy

Tre Cime di Lavaredo (or Drei Zinnen in German language) are the most famous point of Sexten Dolomites. It consists of three battlement-like Dolomite limestone peaks of Cima Ovest ( west") , Cima Grande, ("big) and Cima Piccola ("small"). Before WWI and 1919 it used to be on the border of Austria and Italy and today it marks the linguistic border of German and Italian speaking parts of South Tyrol region of Italy. It is a popular place for climbers and it is also a nature reserve and part of the Dolomites as UNESCO nature World Heritage Site.

In the picture you can see the Rifugio Lavaredo (2.344 m altitude) under the slope on the left, Cadini di Misurina rugged range in the background, the mighty Cima Piccola (2.857 m alt.) and the saddle Forcella di Lavaredo with the ant-like tourists.

"The hotel stay was excellent, my whole family of 4 (2 adults + 2 teens) loved this hotel. We booked a studio room (double bed and a bunk bed). Room was very clean with a small kitchen area, dining table and a sofa. It is close to ski station and many eateries within walking distance. The reception area at level 4 was superb! You can just sit and relax at the lounge area there, relaxing and enjoyjng the beautiful mountain scenery. Our boys loved to play chess at the lounge area. There is on-site parking, laundry facility and vending machines selling drinks and snacks. The reception staffs were all very courteous and approachable. Highly recommended!"
