I had reserved a canal view room and got a room facing a wall. They said there were no canal view rooms available. The room was dirty. The hallways dark and dirty. Rugs threadbare and stained. Bathrooms need to be updated. Shower too tiny. Couldn’t get WiFi to work

The hotel room is in desperate need of new carpet, wall coverings and a new a/c unit. I thought about asking for a different room but could see when the cleaning staff had doors open they were all in very outdated condition. I wanted to cancel night 2 but everything was booked throughout Venice due to the film festival and extremely expensive if available. The bed was clean; the shower worked. It was functional. But I slept poorly and would not recommend Messner Hotel until they make some changes.

I was thrilled that I was able to reserve the only room that has a balcony... and it overlooks the canal. The air conditioning was excellent. The food in the restaurant was superb, and the service was top-notch, plus you get a 20% discount as a hotel guest, and you can dine at a table right along the canal in front of the hotel. It's only a few minutes walk to the stop for the Number 1 Boat, which is one of the major routes along the Grand Canal going in both directions, and it is also an easy walk to many of the wonderful sights of Venice. The staff was very professional, friendly, and helpful. Best of all: for the services provided and prime location, this hotel was amazingly affordable. I would highly recommend to anybody.

Fantastic location but the hotel aircon didn’t work and was dripping constantly, the room was super hot and having the window open let in heaps of mosquitoes. And the shower had quite a lot of mold!

Check in was disorganized. The room was rundown and dirty. The fabric walls were disgusting. I wouldn’t walk on the floor without socks. There was mold in the shower. The beds were thin little mattresses that were not comfortable at all. Very disappointing

Location was great with a canal view and a great little restaurant. Pretty close to the Vaporetto Salute stop. Staff was not overly friendly, make sure you buy water for the room. You definitely get the feel of old Venice with this hotel. Stayed 2 nights and that was perfect.

Save your money and do not stay at this hotel. The Ac was not working in our room (no. 1), mold in the shower curtain, mold in the restroom tile, mold on the restroom's ceiling, bleached or worn out carpets, broken nightstands, staff are rude and not accommodating. We ended up checking out one day before our stay ended and I am still waiting on my refund. The views are not what the pictures show. Their restaurant is no better than the hotel either. A lady in her sixties walks around with a very toxic personality letting staff know that guests are garbage. When speaking to the staff some will pretend not to understand English or Spanish. Once you mention "refund" then they understand multiple languages.

For the price and the peak period we visited in, this place was reasonable. We booked the main building which is clearly much better than the other building. It has ‘faded Wes Anderson’ vibes and has definitely seen better days. That said, it’s an excellent location in a quiet but central location for the vaproretto and there’s a well priced sandwich and coffee shop very close and a good supermarket within a 5 minute walk. It’s Venice and you shouldn’t be spending much time in your hotel room - so with that in mind, it’s fine.

This is a hotel that is not running in proper condition. Paint flakes from the ceiling, door handles fall off, shower drain is clogged. Most definitely not ideal for the price I paid.

Do not waste your time/money on this hotel. The AC unit leaked water into a trash can. Staff not able to fix or provide a different room. The walls and door showed water damage from the leak. Mold on the wall behind desk and a visibly dirty old carpet. The AC unit also started beeping at 2:30 am and did not stop all night. No staff at front desk overnight to assist. We found a last minute room somewhere else for less and got out of there. I could not believe what they were charging for such a dump. You can do better, this property is not maintained.
