Perfect!

This was our favorite vacation home! Location was perfect with the water way behind the house for lots of fishing and canoeing and the beach a few blocks away! The yard was perfect for yard games. Close to grocery stores and restaurants. The layout of the house was nice as well! We did not want to leave!

Unlikely to Rent This Unit in the Future

We enjoyed our time at the beach and overall, were a bit disappointed with the overall cleanliness and upkeep of the property. Below are pros, cons and general notes for future renters. Pros: - House is very spacious; we had 9 guests and never did we feel cramped - Screened in porch was great to sit out and enjoy a bug free evening - The volleyball setup and canoes were a great source of fun for the family. - 5-10 minute walk to the beach and 15-30 min drive to a variety of shopping, dining and entertainment options - WiFi and Smart TV, Board Games were great especially when there was inclement weather. Internet speeds were great. - Pots and Pans, Plates, Silverware were plentiful. Cons: - Overall Cleanliness: Outside of house needs pressure washing (bugs all over the front exterior of the house, thorough vacuuming of all the floors, carpets and rugs) - Pest Control Service - we had ants that caused us to throw away a couple food items - Replace carpeting or deep clean rugs and carpeting on stairs - A/C works inconsistently NOTES: - Microwave handle sticks so you must pull with some force. Heating food is not intuitive. - Oven is extremely slow to preheat (which is noted in the welcome binder) - Fans in screened in porch are nice but not super effective. - Loose, Noisy Ceiling Fan in Kitchen - Dryer is a fire hazard; the lint build up in the dryer vent is blocked. - Volleyball net needs replaced and volleyball needs air. - Outdoor furniture in the backyard needs re-finished and/or re-painted. -Vacuum had not been emptied in months as evident by everything I had to remove from it before being able to use it.

Wonderful Family Beach House!

We had everything we needed for our family to enjoy our stay! The kitchen was well appointed, the family room was spacious, the beach was walking distance away, and the outdoor swings and basketball goal were a big hit! We would stay here again. Thanks!

Carefree review

We have rented Carefree for two years in a row. And, we hope to rent it again next year. The house is an easy 3 block walk to the beach. However, the back yard backs up to a lake and the family has also really enjoyed the kayaking, canoeing, and fishing there.

Great property but issues with hot water.

Great property. Plenty of room, access to lake and the beach were great. Plenty to do. Our only issue was the lack of hot water (tepid at best) in the kitchen. Hot water was sporadic and inconsistent in all other locations. A plumber assessed the issue 3 times during our week long trip.

Family weekend

The house is cute and comfy. On arrival I noticed the house was not that clean. I could tell what the last family ate (chip bag under the corner of couch and piece of a danamal yogurt wrapper on the rug). Each room downstairs had hair and dust bunnies all over the floor. I went to use the Dyson vacuum but it was completely clogged. I sweep throughout the entire house. (I took pics) The master bedroom had some food residue and something sticky on the night stand. My husband and I decided to do a general cleaning of the house before my family from DC arrived. We left the house for a few hours and upon return noticed several lights were out (master bedroom, dining room and one outside light). After resetting the breaker, I called the after-hours maintenance number. After reporting the lights my husband and I tried the breaker several times. It finally worked after 3 resets. I called and let them know it came back on. Once we got over a few starting issues my family (6 adults, 5 children) had a great time. The view to the lake is breathtaking. The weather was cool and perfect for sitting on the screened in porch with a cup of coffee. It's an older house and the hot water was not too great but perfect for simple family fun. The house has toys and board games for all ages. Also a close walk to the beach.

This home was a great size and suited our two families quite well. We enjoyed birdwatching on the lake and dolphin watching from the beach! We did have a problem with a loose faucet. A plumber was sent over promptly and the problem fixed.

Perfect

We came down for a friend's wedding. This was the perfect house and location. With the lake in the back and a short walk to the beach. With more than enough space for everyone. The screened in porch and the swings underneath is where we all stayed most of the time, even with the rain we had. We will definitely be back

Perfect vacation

We stayed at Carefree in May 2022 and it was wonderful! The first thing we noticed was how much cleaner this home was compared to other rentals we've stayed in. It has a convenient floorplan for families with children too since the lower level is separated by a gated off staircase. We enjoyed fishing and canoeing in the lake the property backs to on days we didn't feel like taking our baby down to the beach. The 4 minute walk to the beach made it easy to get in plenty of beach time too! Thanks for having us!
