An off-grid comfy cabin in a quiet corner of a midcoast organic farm

A lovingly built cabin made for a getaway place for our extended family who are now too busy to keep it in use so we offer it to your family and friends! It is off-grid yet quite comfortable with oil lanterns, two burner camping stove for cooking, an indoor sink, an outhouse and an outdoor solar bag heated shower, and an outdoor fire pit. The roomy screen porch is a particular favorite with our guests. Sheets are provided and a few blankets (you may want to bring additional blankets given our erratic Maine weather) and we ask that you provide your own towels, candles and flashlights. If you come in the fall be prepared for quickly changing weather and bring your layers! A separate room with a full sized bed, and a sleeping loft with a twin and a double mattress on the floor - this site does not allow us to describe the loft properly! The main room also has a futon full couch if needed. The cabin is located adjacent to logging roads and our fruit farm which is slowly building up to full production with a kiwi orchard , ramps, and a producing strawberries in a hoophouse for early ripening fruit. We move our horse and pony around to different fields during the warmer months (and ask that you respect all fencing!), and keep pekin ducks (the white ones hence our farm name "White Duck Farm"). The farm is 75+/- acres and located on a quiet rural road - star gazing anyone? We have a canoe available to rent and use at our nearby creek and two ponds. Food markets and some very good places to eat are within 6-7 miles. Our town has a large number of conservation areas for hikes and exploring. Perfect location to explore the rest of Maine's midcoast and islands - or heck! - just relax!

Wonderful Stay
The cabin was absolutely wonderful. It was a great "home-base" for my husband and I. We slept great. I really enjoyed using the kerosene lamps and the woodburning stove. I would absolutely recommend it.

Cozy cabin in the woods
We had a wonderful weekend getaway in this cozy cabin. Unfortunately it was a rainy time but we still enjoyed ourselves with trips to local lighthouses and towns. With the overcast weather the sun shower was a bit "refreshing"but it was still fun to bathe under the sky. Hopefully we can try again and experience nicer weather, so we can enjoy cooking with a fire and roasting marshmallows. Thank you for sharing your rustic escape with us.

Lap of Luxury
We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived to the cabin. It is spacious and clean and is very versatile as well. The location is great as it is not too far from Darimiscotta and other towns and is in a lovely spot in the woods. The porch is an amazing place to spend time with loved ones. We played cards and even some little instruments we found in town! There are plenty of places to sleep and though it is off grid, we had everything we needed to be able to cook and clean. The only thing I would have changed about it was the fact that the way the foundation of the building is, you can feel it move/sway a little when someone is walking or moving. The cabin itself is constructed really well, my friend who is a builder said that the framing was extremely neat. We have already talked about possibly going back for a longer stay in the future. It is a really nice place.

Perfect little get away/escape from the busy east to day!
My partner and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay here! Barbara was very friendly and accommodating. Cabin rules and instructions were clearly laid out for us. Finding the place was a bit tricky but once you found the sign finding your way back was no problem. Remote, quiet area, refreshing return to a more natural way of life after coming from the city, which is quite sentimental to me and reminded me of my childhood. Only wish our schedule wasn’t so packed so we might’ve been able to spend more time at the cabin. However we did get out to a couple of the local bar/restaurants. Highly recommend staying here!

In A Cabin In The Woods
We LOVED, LOVED our stay at this cabin. It was the perfect retreat and escape from city living. The cabin has all that one needs, comfy bed, easy workable kitchen and it is nestled among the trees. It’s a good way to reset your clock, go to bed when it gets dark and wake up when it gets light. It was perfect. It is a great location. Close to a beautiful pond for daily swimming. Picking up supplies in town and exploring all that MAINE has to offer was easy breezy. The hosts were lovely and super nice and accommodating.

beautiful weekend away
I stayed here with 3 friends for my birthday weekend and it was perfect. So nice to be unplugged in the midcoast and close to some of my favorite places like Beth’s farm in Warren and Damariscotta Lake. I would stay here again!
