A week and a wedding

We stayed 10/15-10/22 for a vacation and a wedding at Barn on the New River. The view from the house was beautiful! Rolling hills, small farms, autumn leaves were delightful. We had plenty of room for 10 people and could have fit more comfortably. The homey kitchen was well-equipped. Highly recommend!

The house was perfect for everyone to spread out and have their own rooms. Kitchen was well stocked as we cooked several meals. Our group had fun going into town to shop and visit Ashe County Cheese. We also took a trip into Boone one day. Part of our crowd walked to St Mary's Episcipal Church everyday to sit and reflect with the frescoes. Ping pong table downstairs was a favorite pasttime. We also loved siting on the deck in the rocking chairs! Wonderful time! Can't wait to visit again soon! Thank you for sharing THE GRAPEVINE!

We were part of a group of songwriters looking to spend a weekend of songwriting and sharing music. Having a total of 6 bedrooms with queen or king beds and 2 rooms with twin beds was perfect to accommodate all 10 of us and a dog. The huge deck was perfect for gathering and jam sessions (as was the living/dining area on the main floor and the great room on the ground floor) and plenty of parking for all. We truly loved our stay and we will be coming back for sure!

The beds were comfortable and the showers were amply hot. The price was also excellent! Highly recommend. The only complaint we had was the grime on the floor. Walking around in socks resulted in the bottoms turning black. Finally, the management company was professional, kind and a real person. It was extremely easy to get in contact with them.

There was more than enough room for everyone to have their own space or come together. We had to go out to get things like hand soap and the trash policy was a little difficult with the large group, but thankfully there was a store nearby. We did have an incident of someone not a part of our group coming onto the property the last night so I would recommend making sure all doors are locked when in the house. Otherwise, we had a great time and would book again.

It felt like our home away from home when we returned after such a great vacation last year. The large spaces with plenty of seating, comfortable beds, and well-stocked kitchen made it work well for our family of 3 generations. The double ovens and two refrigerators are so helpful. We love the large deck and carport/driveway for the kids (and adults!) to play, and appreciate the closet filled with balls, spike ball, corn hole, etc, and the ping pong table downstairs! The large supply of games, puzzles, and books is a nice addition. We enjoyed the new landscaping, and find the rolling hills and the pastoral setting so peaceful, yet it was great to be less than a mile from a large grocery store! We visited the town of West Jefferson and 2 great parks nearby, but this property provided a great vacation for our family in itself. The Grapevine home truly is a retreat and we hope to return!

Just a few issues were noted, and remedied the same evening by a friendly handyman. The bottom floor Ping Pong Table, board games, and book selection kept the kids happy. There was a high chair for any extra little visitors. Tons of cabinet space, a lot of kitchen supplies, double ovens, and 2 refrigerators kept the cooks happy! There is one bathtub in the common bathtub upstairs, which was great to have with kiddos. The colorful trees and mountain views were gorgeous! Gas fireplaces on both floors were a hit, too. Also, King sized beds in all rooms except the twin bedrooms were lovely!There were a couple relevant downfalls we wish we knew about beforehand. There is no trash pickup - you must bring your own trash to the dump site about 8 minutes away (not a deal-breaker for us, but would've been nice to know). Also, only a couple rooms had dressers. When staying at a place, I love to unpack amd make myself at home. There were plenty of luggage racks, but dressers or drawers in each room would be great!Thank you for everything! Our sugg
