“Staff were excellent, room was brilliant and the little luxuries were perfect. Breakfast very good.”

“Location was a plus since you don’t have to deal with congested traffic in the city. Free parking an obvious plus. Food was decent. Staff and service very good. The only real negative was one of hygiene. It was noticeable that when customers used the toilet facilities and failed to wash their hands, they would return to the restaurant and handle the utensils stacked in the containers on the table. In future, I would take wipes and clean before using.”

“Nice, comfortable room alongside the pub, with direct access to the street. Easy check-in via the friendly bar staff and surprisingly quiet given the rooms are alongside the beer garden. Town centre, rail & bus stations and riverfront are all within walking distance, with regular buses to the castle & cathedral up the (very steep) hill. Would definitely stay again.”

“Just came back after a 2-night stay. The place was easy enough to find and we didn’t struggle for parking either, location is great. However, as it is self check-in there isn’t anyone around. Everything is done via text messages and code locks. The first room we were given hadn’t been cleaned at all after the previous guests had left. I let the person at the other end of the text messages know, and we were “upgraded” to another room (slightly larger and had a bathtub instead of a shower). This ……

“The room opens directly onto the carpark, which was great as it made it easy to unload/load the car, also we could keep the door open so cool down the room (it was hot when we stayed). The staff were friendly and helpfully. Each nigh we were asked to prebook our breakfast, stating what time we wanted it, the following morning the breakfast was waiting for us perfectly cooked.”

The Wellington Hotel was exactly what we needed — easy check‑in, no fuss, clean rooms, comfortable beds, hot showers, and a genuinely tasty breakfast that set us up for the rest of the journey. Simple, welcoming, and spot‑on. Highly recommended.”
