Overall experience is brilliant: good lake view, good service, clean, comfortable. But there's only one drawback: the shower drains very slow. I had to finish shower in 5 mins to avoid water flooding out. I still highly recommend this hotel.

Checked in and paid for 7 Nights, Checked out after 4 nights. Stated it catered for Gluten Free, when actually after the first morning breakfast that the hotel has no idea what food allergies are. They had no Separation between the sausages, bacon and black pudding all were thrown into the same serving dish. Nothing was labelled to say it was Gluten free or not. The staff were asked and just shugged there shoulders. Only 1 pathetic toaster for over100 plus guests. All the equipment was squashed into one corner, considering the space in the restaurant it was a joke. Queuing to get to the toaster. Children running a mock, nothing said to anybody, nearly dropped boiling water on top of a child, parents not really caring. Wife asked for Gluten Free breakfast, and was given 2 slices of warm GF bread, that was it as everything else contained Gluten or was cross contaminated. No GF cereal etc at all. Room was lovely and clean, but tired, grout to bathroom floor was missing 50% of the grout. Complained to 4 different staff about the GF food issue, all of the was not bothered in the slightest. DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL IF YOU HAVE ANY FOOD ALLERGIES, more like a 2 Star B+B, not a 4/5 Star hotel it claims to be.

Myself and my husband chose this hotel for our anniversary and it didn’t disappoint! The hotel staff upgraded our room when we arrived and wow what a treat it was! The room was beautiful and so were the views from our room. It was clean and tidy and had everything we needed for a relaxing stay. The hotel is a short walk in to the little town where there are plenty of restaurants, pubs and bars. The hotel over looks the boat docks so you can easily get boat tours around the lake. There is parking on site which does have a charge of £15 per day. The breakfast buffet was perfect. It was fairly small but had everything you could want. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and want to thank the staff for making our anniversary extra special!

Firstly we were upgraded before we arrived, the room was newly refurbished and a great view of the garden and the lake. The staff are second to none here. I’ve never been to a hotel before where even 15 minutes before breakfast is due to finish staff are still bring out fresh hot food at the buffet, and to eat breakfast over the lake is amazing. Big shout out alga’s to go to Moses at the hotel bar, a true gent, excellent service and an amazing cocktail maker. The location of the hotel is amazing. We shall be returning next year without a shadow of a doubt! Well done to all who work at the Belsfield.

Great staff, great location. The hotel and the room was lovely. The only negative is some areas inside are a little tired and I do not think you should have to pay for parking in your staying at the hotel considering the car park is on it’s own grounds.

Foolishly selected a cosy double which had a bathroom the size of a broom cupboard. School boy error. Welcoming staff. Couldn’t get served at bar, poor barman was over run. Breakfast a mediocre buffet affair, coffee machine not working. Beautiful property in throes of upgrade.

The room was very clean and comfortable. All the staff were lovely and professional. There was a good selection at breakfast, with continental and cooked. Our only disappointment was that we weren’t in the main restaurant for dinner but a side dining room which lacked atmosphere and personality. Apart from this our stay was very enjoyable.

Fabulous few days here. We stayed in a four poster suite with lake view and it was perfect. The room was spacious with a seating area to view the lake and all the activity on it. The bathroom was great, with the choice of a standing free bath and a modern shower with excellent rain water experience. The bed was extra large and so comfortable with soft pillows and duvet. Plenty of tea, coffee and Kendal mint cake to enjoy a cuppa in the room. The bar and restaurant were excellent. Happy with the choices for the breakfast buffet. We ate in the restaurant each evening and was really happy with the quality and presentation of the food - thanks for good chefs! For a light meal, we recommend the halloumi chips and the bbq sticky chicken. All the hardworking staff we met from cleaners, bar, waiting, reception were very friendly and made you feel welcome. All were great ambassadors for the hotel! Would recommend to anyone; and we will return ourselves!

Gorgeous, grand hotel in a fantastic location. Service great from all staff and hotel clean throughout. Family rooms a great size and ideal for a family of 4. Hotel is currently undergoing a period of renovation and you can see this is needed in places but this is to be expected for a grand and historic hotel.

Couldn't fault our stay. Staff were all friendly, helpful and efficient. Room was very clean. Breakfast, included, had a large selection of hot and cold items and being self service was quick. Evening meal was excellent and about the same price as trekking into Bowness on a cold wet evening.
