「The hotel room smelled like clean laundry when I checked in, but after a couple of days the bathroom in particular began to stink. The bedsheets seemed clean, but the carpet was stained. There were a lot of cracks in the plaster walls and ceiling, wallpaper coming off, and several cracked tiles in the bathroom. The toilet seat was installed wonkily and there was something sticky on the handle of the hairdryer, which itself didn't work. My male colleague got a knock on his bedroom door at 11:30....
