We didn't receive a particularly warm welcome on arrival but bar and breakfast staff were friendly and helpful. The bedroom was basic but fine for a short stay and the bed was comfortable. However, the noise from the streets outside (all night) affected our sleep.

I stayed here for one night in the basic room. I have previously lived in York and can say that the location is excellent. Near lots of the major nightlife spots in York and a 10/15 minute walk to the minster. The staff were friendly and welcoming when we arrived. The hotel itself is a little outdated. We were on floor 2 and the lift was very jittery and slow. The room was spacious and had a coffee machine and clean towels. The bed wasn’t particularly comfortable and the pillows were very flat, but as we only stayed for one night it didn’t bother us too much. Be wary that you may also get a lot of street noise dependent on the night as the windows aren’t particularly soundproof and neither were the walls of the hotel. Overall, for a night, the hotel was practical and clean and we had a fantastic buffet breakfast in the morning. I would recommend for a short stay.

The location is fabulous, the staff are helpful and friendly. Excellent buffet breakfast. Rooms were a good size and you can park your car at the hotel. We will definitely stay here again. The decor is a little dated, but I wasn’t too bothered. A fantastic stay.

Hotel feels old and tired as if it was updated in the 1990’s and has not had much done with it since. Rooms clean, but bed was lumpy, duvet thin and quite short in length, shower looked retrofitted by a Soviet era designed and my room the overlooked the Ouse lack adequate soundproofing of the window which meant as it wailing weekend I was kept awake until 3am or 4am each of my two night stay. At basically £140 a night it was not value for money. It’s a two star hotel worth about £70 a night at the most!

The apartment rooms are incredibly clean, spacious, and comfortable, with good beds, hot water, and even a washing machine, which was a huge bonus for us while traveling across the country. That said, the flats are located in a separate building away from the main hotel and its lovely river view. Getting in requires juggling a flimsy set of keys to unlock three different doors, with the exterior one being particularly tricky to open — likely due to a faulty key copy. We stayed on the top floor, and with no elevator in the building, going up and down multiple times a day quickly became exhausting. There was also a plumbing issue worth mentioning: whenever you turn on the shower or the bathtub faucet, water starts dripping in the kitchen. This comes with a loud noise, most likely from a water pump working to push the pressure up to the higher floors. That definitely needs looking into. Finally, the building has a somewhat dated feel to it, though depending on your taste, that could actually be part of the charm.

Clean apartment, good location for exploring York city centre. The only downside was that we stayed on a Friday and a Saturday and there was a lot of noise on the Saturday evening from the streets when the local nightclub was closing.

Ok let’s list all the things that our hotel room didn’t have 1)There was no heating switched on when we got there, when I switched it on the temp controls didn’t work well 2) there are only 2 240v sockets in the room and one of them is for the television. No sockets either side of the bed! No usb socket there either. I went to reception and he loaned me an extension lead. This then was a trip hazard in the dark! 3) the bathroom… no hooks behind the the door to hang clothes on. 4) hot water is dangerously hot. 5) shower is in the bath with a curtain, I had a shower and the floor was dangerously wet. Minimum it needs a bath screen and a safety handle to steady you. My wife could t get her leg over the side of the bath to have a shower.! 6) sound insulation.. you can hear people coughing and snoring in the next room. 7) no nightlight in the bathroom. Get up to go to the loo in the night and you have to put the light on. Good location and I could park the car below but had to move it due to the river rising and possible flooding All in all it was like booking into a hotel from the 1970s
