I have always loved the Royal Albert and have looked forward to my stays here in the past, but my most recent visit was deeply upsetting. This time, the room was in a state of unacceptable neglect.The issues were visible the moment I walked in: the lampshades were damaged, there were black marks on the ceiling, and the shower grout had mould than could have been dealt with. More concerning was the lack of basic cleanliness; the walls and fixings had layers of dust that could be seen clearly in the lamplight. To make matters worse, the fridge was so badly iced over that it wouldn't even close, meaning the internal light stayed on all night and disrupted my sleep.We brought the fridge issue to the staff's attention the next morning, but frankly, this room needs more than a quick tidy-up—it requires serious maintenance. It hurts to write this because of my long-standing affection for this hotel, but the current standards are distressing. I hope management takes this seriously, as the Royal Albert I know is much better than this. Because of this experience, I am honestly uncertain if I will return in the future.

PROS: Location was excellent. Rooms were spacious, clean, modern, bathrooms were clean without rusting or stains, and furniture all clean without stains. Balcony was spacious and the balcony door open allowed for great fresh air. Waster pressure was fine but just note that these are showerheads and not handheld showers. WIFI speed was fine. CONS: The rooms felt a little stuffy and hot despite A/C being on. The washing machine rattled horribly so we had to weigh it down with a carry-on luggage. Would I recommend? Overall, sure.

Convenient location and nice spacious apartment. Would definitely stay there again

Of you’re every in Brisbane, this is the place to stay. The attention to detail in maintaining its heritage character was wonderful. The large well appointed room and bathroom was appreciated. Five minutes down the hill to restaurants and a further five minutes to the botanical gardens made this a very accessible location. Loved our one night stay there.

I will say this. In my opinion, the location is definitely one of the highlights of staying at this hotel. It’s right on one corner of the Brisbane river so, you’re surrounded by restaurants, piano bars, spas, etc. Also a great place to exercise considering the riverwalk is literally right there which looks pretty good on your Strava App lol. This Stamford also has a 24hr gym with pretty good gym equipment that won’t be too far off from the kind of workout you can have from your local gym. Breakfast is something I don’t particularly have time for, but the breakfast buffet prepared here is phenomenal. If you have a rental car, it can be parked at the hotel but you will PAY; so ask about if you’re looking for a bit of convenience. Anyway, I always stay at The Stamford when I visit Brisbane and there has never been disappointment.
