I would say this resort has plenty of activities and amenities which is very convenient. Peaceful resort with a beautiful beach right in front of me. I wish the food selection and taste could be improved.

Gaya Island is a great destination for snorkelling/ diving, the water around the property is full of life even from your villa and the walkways there is plenty to see. Gayana resort is plastic free and no water motorsports are available- which I did much appreciate. Staff are very friendly and helpful throughout, the properties are clean and spacious. However the resort is in overall need of repair and refurbishment. The villas and common areas are outdated, repairs made over time are visible and mismatched. The restaurant menu is limited, you will struggle to pair starter, main and desert, find vegetarian or vegan options. I would not expect a pizza on a resort dinner menu ( even less a pizza that really does not meet any standards). The bar features a pool table ( literally the only thing to do in the evening) which has not been maintained and is not level, cocktail options are limited, the bar overall is not stocked and not always manned during opening hours. Prices for food and drinks are not far off European standards, quality is not. The hotel offers snorkelling gear and kayaks free of charge and staff at the recreation centre are always there to help, there is no gym ( which would be handy when it rains) and there is very limited offer of paid activities ( eg. diving instructions were not available during our stay, no options to explore the island,..) The property does also not have access to a beach!- there are fantastic looking beaches close but not accessible.

I enjoyed my stay .It was a a spacious and comfortable room .The staff were friendly and helpful and the included breakfast was very nice .The pool was pleasant too .The location was convenient too.

The hotel location is fantastic. We had a sea facing room and had a wonderful view of the ocean and mountains in the background, as well as fishing boats. The gym is also well equipped - multiple stationary bikes, treadmills, exercise machines. The only down side is that there is a strong odor of cigarettes in there all the time. May be due to bad air circulation in that room. There is also a nice outdoor pool. The breakfast buffet was very good, with lots of local and western choices. Hotel staff are wonderful, very helpful, polite and customer focused.

A very well appointed hotel to relax and explore Sabah, Borneo. The staff could not be more personable and attentive, which transformed our experience and made it very special for our break. The breakfast is plentiful and well arrayed, covering Asian and Western Cuisine. The pool side lunch is reasonable in offering, and while we did not opt for dinner, the choice of restaurants were ample for a 4 night stay. The garden wing room was well sized for a family, and the housekeeping staff have thought of all the needs for modern travel. The location is about a 45 minute drive from the airport and the main city, which did not affect our needs but some might find a bit remote. The adjoining rasa ria reserve was quite special and the choice of activities on offer is fantastic. The daytime entertainment at the poolside is really good. With fond memories, we would definitely comeback.
