RR Hotel da Rocha

8/10 Good

"A pleasant hotel, but I was hoping for a little more given the reviews. The hotel is modern and has all the facilities you could want, including a swimming pool, gym and bar. Breakfast was good, and I would say above average overall. That said, I would recommend changing the brand of baked beans and sausages! The bar was also a nice place to relax, with plenty of TV screens if you enjoy watching sport. We didn’t try the restaurant, as there is so much choice in the local area. However, the hotel might benefit from offering guests an incentive to dine there. I believe the themed buffet costs around €35 per person. For me, the main downside, and the reason I wouldn’t give five stars, was the lack of sunshine. Our room was at the back of the hotel, meaning our balcony was always in the shade. In October, this made it quite cold, and we would have appreciated being offered a room with a sunnier aspect. The pool area was another disappointment in this respect, as it remains in the shade for much of the day. By around 1.30 pm, there was hardly any sunshine left around the pool. A big plus, though, is the beautiful beach directly opposite the hotel, where sunbeds were available for just €6 for the day. Overall, we had a nice stay and enjoyed ourselves. With a few improvements, particularly around room allocation and making the most of the sunshine, the hotel could offer an even better experience. Thank you for a pleasant stay!"

"Hotel says 5 star could be argued as lower , needs updating , 80's decore , air-conditioning in room didnt work first night, couldn't leave door open for the patio cause it didn't have a screen ,second night they sent a repair man to fix air-conditioning, mildly better but not great . Parking not on site off site, bad directions to get there. Breakfast was the best I have ever had in a hotel . Great beach and pool. Staff wonderful. Awesome location"

"This hotel is heaven. The staff were super helpful and lovely. The beach was amazing. The food was excellent. The rooms were spacious and clean. The spa was fantastic. I had a massage and facial. My only comment would be that the bakery/cafe by the pool stay open later. I was a solo traveler and I had the most relaxing and peaceful stay."

"My husband and I had discovered Prainha Clube on a walk to Alvor years ago. We fell in love with this area and we are so happy that we were able to stay there this time. The location is perfect. Incredible views and access to the most spectacular unique and parts of the beach and an easy walk into Alvor. The only negative would be no pool/beach towels. I understand that people don't return them and the cost to launder them. I suggest that you charge a rental fee that is partially returned when they return the towel. A win win for everyone. Or you could have a shop in the hotel where you sell towels. You need a towel for the pool and beach."
