I loved that it was a historical building and not a new high-rise building. It was very nice also that the room was air-conditioned as we were there while Amsterdam was experiencing very hot temperatures. It was nice that it is right on the canal and in a central location for many places we wanted to visit. I would stay there again.
Frederick at the desk was lovely and helpful. Location was good, and they had everything we needed.

Liked: Staff & service
Location is great. Not fair from the Icebar and a fantastic Indian Restaurant. The room itself, was a cosy but not air conditioning - in this heat is required. The shower room was extremely cosy too. Otherwise staff helpful and really nice. The room was clean and plenty to do around this area.
Wonderful stay, everything was lovely!
Especially the people in the reception, they recommended restaurants and places to visit. Definitely worth the stay and very close to the metro and tram as well.
As with most inner city rooms in Amsterdam, ‘compact and bijou’ but no complaints. All facilities are functional, clean and tidy. There’s a lift that is quiet, which is good given the stairs are like all in Amsterdam are really steep.
Good location for anyone wanting to explore more of the outer canals etc. and is away from the bars enough to be quiet.
Property was well maintained, staff was great, location was great, but room was incredibly small (my fault for not checking room details more closely before booking). The killer was the street noise at night. No air conditioning, so had a choice of either leaving the windows open to get some ventilation (and let all of the street noise in), or close the windows to block the street noise (and swelter in the heat). Maybe not a problem in colder weather, but a huge problem in warmer weather!
We stayed in the family suite which was a great room for the 2 nights we were staying. The upstairs room had plenty of space. The only negative was the room was face the street and was at street level. Although the noise usually stopped around midnight there was the smell of cigarette smoke in the room from people outside.
Location was great. Staff very friendly and helpful. Elevator- not a given in Amsterdam- existed, and worked well. Pretty basic room but for a short stay it was very satisfactory. Good to be near the Opera/Ballet theatre.
The view was spectacular! The beds were very comfortable. The location is close to excellent bistros and boutiques that we enjoyed. The front desk is awesome! They made us feel welcome, gave us great service and hospitality. They even held some luggage for us for 1 week while we visited Kenya, and when we came back in the early morning until check in. The daily breakfast is delicious and healthy. Definitely try the coffee! We stayed here twice and would do it again.
