I'm rating this as 5 stars even though we had a negative situation with my brother's room as they got robbed. Long story short, after the internal investigation, the videos showed that the cleaning personnel took the money and they fired the person. The room, the breakfast and service were very good overall and the location is very convenient.

Hotel Sint Nicolaas is a charming boutique hotel centrally located close to Amsterdam Centraal station. The room was comfortable with plenty of space for our luggage. Comfortable bed & linens. The breakfast buffet for 27 euros lacked food. Hot dishes weren't replenished and the staff was not responsive to requests for additional food. If you came past 8:30am you are only getting yogurt and toast. Eggs, sausages and anything else hot is all gone by then. I would opt out of the buffet and walk down the street to spend your money at Koeplecafe for a nice breakfast instead.

Hotel Sint Nicolaas is an older property that is fairly well maintained. Room size wasn't bad for an older property, but there isn't a lot of room for luggage if more than one person are staying in the room. Air conditioning worked very well! You get a little noise from the street trams outside, but it's not horrible. Our room has a very nice bathroom. The tablet/clock/radio on the nightstand didn't work, but that wasn't an issue since we both have phones. Room included a nice closet with a safe. The table and chairs were a nice touch. Breakfast was nice and staff was very friendly and helpful. Hotel is very close to Centraal Station and many shops and restaurants. The only downside for us was that one side of the bed sloped towards the outer side of the bed. There is an area right outside the front of the hotel with a benched area that is a hangout for many people whom I presume are locals? Or can get pretty trashy with litter some nights, but we never felt threatened by those in the area. O would consider staying here again.

The hotel was an average stay, although it was quite pricey compared to other hotels but due to needing a room that slept 4adults we had been limited by choice. The location however is very good, but we had inconsistent house keeping, one day two beds got made and two clean towels and the other two bed left unmade and no refresh of towels. The second day no house keeping at all. Experienced three different receptions staff one of which was quite rude and unhelpful, theirs a nice beverage machine that is complementary in reception, however on one of the occasions the milk had ran out and the lad in reception informed us that there was no more milk. However when two of our party retired to bed two other guests came in to make a drink and suddenly milk appeared. Although it is Amsterdam so many hallucinations are possible but this was not our case. All in all somewhere that’s ok to get your head down and a shower.

Great location not far from central station and with a tram stop round the corner. Perfect for travelling solo The bed was uncomfortable and the mattress topper kept moving and sliding off which was a pain. The internet and tv kept stalling in the room Very noisy as faced into the Main Street but to be expected from the location. Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful - sorting out a taxi for me as well as recommending places to visit. They made it a great stay.

Poor staff attitude
The hotel itself was beautiful and ideally located. Overall we had a lovely stay, however we were upset by the attitude of one staff member at the check-in desk. When it was fedback that the coffee pods weren’t replenished in the room overnight she appeared argumentative rather than helpful and suggested that we should go for our coffee downstairs instead of in the room as it was better. She was then was observed to roll her eyes to her colleague. This wasn’t an unreasonable request and left us feeling humiliated and upset. So we could not recommend this hotel.
