## Emplacement
Capital of the Haute-Savoie, Annecy is a city of art with a magnificent architectural unit. The walk in old Annecy is a real enchantment. With its charming canals, flowery banks, adorable little bridges and beautiful houses with colorful facades, Annecy really bears its nickname of the Savoyard Venice. What a pleasure to stroll along its canals or walk in its pleasant pedestrian streets!
In the heart of the old town, the Palais de l'Île, a former prison and courthouse, now houses the Annecy Museum of History. Close to this iconic 12th century building, the rue Sainte-Claire lined with pretty arcades houses is also a must. Overlooking the city, the castle-museum, former residence of the counts of Geneva and the dukes of Genevois-Nemours, is dedicated to archaeology, ethnology, art, history and alpine lakes.
To end the visit in beauty, nothing like a walk on the shores of the wonderful lake of Annecy. A must-see! The Gardens of Europe, the Pont des Amours crossing the Vassé canal, the avenue d'Albigny lined with plane trees and the Champ de Mars are wonderful places to relax. To better discover the lake and its surrounding mountains, cruises on board of vedettes as well as pedal boats and small motor boats are offered to visitors.
