About this property
2 Bed in Eden Valley (SZ455)
Nestled in the tranquil village of Warcop on the edge of the North Pennines AONB is this characterful holiday home, a charming Victorian end-of-terrace house. Sleeping between three and four people and boasting lovely socialising spaces, it has been thoughtfully planned to make a comfortable base for a couple or small group to take advantage of the natural delights of the area. The property has a charming position overlooking a pretty stream and has been renovated to make the most of its period feel while adding a modern kitchen and bathroom for that 21st century comfort.
Warcop is happily situated between the North Pennines, the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales National Park, giving you access to a fantastic array of walking, cycling and attractions. The village itself is a tranquil haven with the feel of a bygone era and a slow pace of life. It's a paradise for heritage rail enthusiasts with the Eden Valley Railway running from just around the corner and the wonderfully picturesque Carlisle to Settle Railway passing nearby. Gentle walks can be undertaken from the door; why not enjoy a charming potter along the River Eden and to the pub in the neighbouring village of Sandford? Alfred Wainwright's multi-day walk, known as A Pennine Journey, goes through the village. The property is a great base for taking on sections of the trail.
Only slightly further afield you'll find the Eden Valley towns of Appleby, Kirkby Stephen and Penrith, all of which have plenty of history and attractions to discover alongside a diverse selection of shops and a great choice of eateries. Warcop's accessible position near the A66 means that within half an hour of the cottage you could be paddling in Ullswater, visiting the Bowes Museum in Teesdale, or booting up and preparing to walk up one of the mighty fells of the Dales, the Lakes or the Pennines. Alternatively you can just come to the property and enjoy the peace and tranquillity of this quiet village off the beaten tourist track.
Guests arrive to the front of the house into a light hallway with coat hooks for your outdoor gear and plenty of space for walking boots. To the right of the hallway is the cosy living room. This has four armchairs, three of them leather and with differing seating styles to suit all tastes, arranged around the lovely open fire. It's a delightful social space for discussing your day's adventures however, there's also a Smart TV for entertainment should you wish to curl up in front of a good film.
Back across the hallway is the open-plan kitchen and dining room. The room benefits from tons of light from the large bay window where there is also a comfy Parker Knoll two seater sofa and a dining table for four. The modern kitchen is well equipped with a built-in fan oven, ceramic hobs, microwave, slimline dishwasher and large built-in fridge/freezer. Moving further through towards the back door there is a utility cupboard and downstairs WC.
Upstairs you will find the bedrooms and main bathroom. First to the master bedroom, this has a romantic cream-coloured iron bedstead, a dresser and a hanging rail for storage. The second bedroom has a small double bed, it can be used for two people however please bear in mind it is more suitable for one. This room also has a lovely iron bedstead and a hanging rail. This floor also houses the study which is a charming book-lined room with a desk overlooking Crooks Beck, which bubbles past across the road outside the property. It's an ideal space if you are bringing work with you on your break.
The bathroom is a gorgeous modern room with slate flooring, a stylish white suite with separate bath and a wet-room style shower.
Moving outside to the rear of the house there is a lovely enclosed rear garden with patio and raised section which benefits from morning sunshine, ideal for a morning cuppa. There is also dining furniture available for outdoor meals in the warmer months. Please note that the house next door shares access through the garden. To the front of the house there is a small area within the garden railings with a bench to profit from the evening sunshine and the view of the stream. Why not enjoy a glass of wine while taking in the peace and tranquillity of this charming village?
