Right away there was a communication problem between the host and I. Check in was supposed to be at 3pm and at about 2:15pm I hadn't heard from them on how to enter the property. I messaged Reid and he asked me to call him directly. (We've stayed at many vrbo type homes and usually hosts communicate through the website to record the entire conversation for future use, this was odd but I went ahead with it.) He mentioned the cleaning crew hadn't come to clean the unit and he was just arriving at the unit around 2:45pm, we were already on our way there. I told him no problem and that we would wait, he mentioned the sheets would take the longest.
My friends and I waited for at least 30 to 45 minutes outside in the cold and after a while we asked to come inside to use the restroom. It didn't seem like we needed to be waiting outside at this point because he was not inside the unit.
First red flag.
I had mentioned I would prefer he not come into the unit to put on the sheets unless necessary, since we had at least four hours before we needed to leave again, I thought that was plenty of time to wash and dry two beds worth of sheets. He didn't show up at this time to make the beds.
Before we left we had issues with the toilet and it overflowed on us. He didn't have a plunger in the bathroom for us to help the situation, so I had to call and ask him to take care of it for us. We also didn't have any additional towels to clean up the mess from the floor because there was only one hand towel.
I called him at about 9pm after we left to ask if he already took care of the plumbing issue or put sheets on our beds with no response. I also texted him right after to mention why I was calling and not through the website as I think I should have.
He did not respond until 1am with information that he did go into the unit BUT he didn't fix the toilet, clean the mess on the floor of the bathroom, or put sheets on the beds. I also noticed the sheets that he left outside of the unit in the adjoining hallway at 1:30am were still warm. I think we can read between the lines here.
Reid did mention something about Vrbo rules when going into the unit without the guests being there but there was a great, overflowing toilet reason, to go into the unit and fix the problem and in turn do what you said you were going to do in the first place.
I thought this was extremely unprofessional and am leaving my review as a warning.
