Thank you for reviewing our motel. Your husband said "a very good stay" when checked out. I checked the room after your comments. I can't see why flys would bother to come to your upstairs room unless there was some incentive. This is New Zealand not Australia where you're from. I did notice more agressive flies in Australia than here though it was mostly in the open.. However none of the houses I stayed in there had fly screens.I couldn't find any cobwebs on the kitchen curtains. The bathroom/toilet area gets by without fans. If if not you would expect to see mould in the area and there is none. This area is mostly hard working immigrants and their families. If you're not comfortable in such an environment that is your free right. Personally I thrive here.Most people would drive to the supermarket. If you have to lug groceries back it may not be so easy. There is a commpendium in every room which lists restaurants and takeaways.Most motels in Auckland are on four lane highways. They need to be to attract business.

I can't hear at all out of my left ear which makes it impossible to tell where sound it coming from so I do sympathise with you.I reviewed our CCTV footage of your check in and I can’t see anything there to complain about. You came into with your son and smiled. My business partner said “Can you close the door please. We have cats!” You smiled and said you were sorry. The thing I notice most was that you were smiling most of the time throughout the entire check in and you definitely did not appear offended. I really can’t see anything there that my business partner did that would offend anyone. He definitely wasn't yelling at you.All our bathrooms are double checked by both our cleaner and either my business partner or myself. I checked with my business partner and cleaner. They said there was nothing wrong with the toilet on the day you checked in.

As part of your Terms of Stay which you agreed to abide by when you signed or Registration Card it says the following "Please report any problems with your room to management as soon as possible after they occur so that we can remedy them quickly." You didn't do that so there is very little we can do. If you had alerted us maybe we would have done something.

Thank you for your review. I think you'll find most small businesses here do not use contactless payment. It's too expensive here for lower volume transactions. We only have them in busier places like supermarkets. Our government has not legislated bank charges like they have in Oz. Our banks are mostly Australian owned but they're quite happy to charge us double the transaction prices they do in Oz when there is no legal reason to compel them to do otherwise.

Thank you for your review. We try to be as accurate as possible when away but at the time I was getting daily treatment at a CBD hospital and travelling on the motorway is difficult to predict. If you had trouble with the microwave why didn't you come and see us? Our motel was built in the 90s. As I explained to you some of our rooms have smoke detectors which are sensitive to toaster fumes. We have to have them in our rooms to comply with council regulations.

Thank you for taking the time and trouble to review your five night stay at our motel. In our room’s compendium it says amongst other things what you can expect for a daily service. Our daily service like most other hotels and motels does not include a vacuuming of the floors. If you are shedding hair everywhere you can request to the cleaner to vacuum the floor. However most hotels and motels would not vacuum the floor on a daily service unless specifically requested to. I don’t think most motels have good sound insulation. I was staying in some motels around the country and you could clearly hear what the people next door were saying. Most of the time motels are not full up so it’s not a problem. However during your stay we were close to full. I think at times like this you need a bit more tolerance and understanding. That’s why we couldn’t provide the room you booked. The room you booked was out of action for maintenance. We upgraded you to the next room up a twin studio for no price increase.Can you tell us precisely which cooking utensils were dirty? We couldn’t find any, We note too that you only ate takeaways during your stay. Your bed has a mattress topper. It is very comfortable. In fact the people staying in your room afterwards praised it. You said to my business partner that your bed was very comfortable and you weren’t having any other problems and everything was good.

He searched your room thoroughly, before the cleaner went in, including looking under the bed just in case but couldn't find anything. We only have one cleaner and we fully trust her. Furthermore I doubt if she would be interested in used clothing. How can we return things to you if we don't have them?.

In the nine and half years that we have run this motel we have never had fleas. . For the one you showed us you said it was like the ones in the lab you where you were studying. You never mentioned the air conditioner problem to us . As for the room's location you were the one who booked it in spite of there being cheaper and quieter ones for singles and couples at the back. .
