  • St. John’s Point Lighthouse was first exhibited in 1844. The original lighthouse was painted white. In 1902 three black bands were added. Its current markings of black with two yellow bands have been in place since 1954. The color of the light was changed from white to red on 1st July 1860. The tower was originally only 14m tall. It was extended to its current dizzying height of 40m in the 1880's and is now the tallest onshore lighthouse on the Irish coast. The lighthouse was automated in 1981. Great little getaway with friendly hosts

Lovely little cabin with everything you need for a few days away. Quiet location but with plenty of things to do in the surrounding areas. The hosts were very friendly and the place was very clean. No complaints at all

Gateway to the mourne mountains

Myself and my partner only stayed for one night. The cabin was very clean and cosy with everything we needed for our short break. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was excellent, things that not all places we have stayed get right. We used it as a stop off on our trip to photograph the mountains and surrounding areas, this was the perfect stop off for what we wanted. Thank you for the stay, it made our break, we will definitely be booking again.

3 night stay

Great stay. Location is great for Belfast in the north or Newcastle and Mourne in the south. Nice and quiet, clean too. Met Michael and Michaela who were very helpful and informative. If you don't know the area just ask, helpful hosts. I originally had planned to be there on my own, but my son wanted to come along lay minute. Michaela was very good at communicating how the self catering accommodation was set up once she knew my son was attending. There are other larger self catering accommodation on site. Good to know as I will bring along the family next time and book either a 2 or 3 bed accommodation. 10/10 for me. Highly recommend.
