  • This is the headstone of Banner Elk, North Carolina. This elk has been in the town forever, but this past year the elk has been refurbished and installed as the centerpiece of the town. This elk frames Appalachia in the sense of this small town pride in the mountains. In the background you can see the historic elementary school and rolling mountains and once again the North Carolina pride of the state flag surrounding this elk even though about 100ft to the right there is another flagpole with the same flags raised high and proud. This is where every child in this town went to school in this picturesque location but as time rolls on is Appalachia move on too? #appalachianechoes

Lovely decor and very comfortable

This well appointed cabin suited our needs. It was clean, nicely decorated and well stocked with cleaning products. The bathrooms were also one of the best features as they were modern and clean. The only downside was that the top bunks didn’t have side rails because the mattresses were very thick so these too bunks wouldn’t be great for small children. Overall though a great place to stay.

Thanksgiving Family Vacation

We were looking for a place that could accommodate 12 of us and make it easy for our parents. This place accomplished both. It was large enough for us all, we never felt we were on top of each other. It was great to have 3 king master suites especially one on the main floor for our parents. Joanie was great to work with, answered all our questions and quickly. We would definitely stay here again!

Hands down my favorite rental!!!!

Absolutely loved this rental!!!!! Each bedroom was spacious with amazing bathrooms. the ouse with pristine clean. the living area on the first floor was comfortable and then having the downstairs family room was perfect for those of us that wanted to stay up later than the others. Eagle's Nest is a large community...this house was extremely easy to find and was extremely near the entrance gate, making it very convenient to head into town. I can't wait to stay here again!!!!

The home is beautiful and in a great location. Would just ask for a few extra things.

We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful home. Love that each bedroom has its own bath. The only complaints I have are: we were not told that we coul only have 4 small bags of trash or we would be charged an additional fee. Also, the Home needs some additional utensils and glass bake wear.

Perfect family mountain getaway!

Rustic Cedar Rock was the perfect choice for our family ski trip. The decor was just what we wanted for a mountain cabin with plenty of space for our 3 families. The gated community was amazing on a gorgeous mountain. The scenery and homes were beautuful and we enjoyed the Rope Course and Teepee Village. The teens enjoyed their own space with the pool table and the adults all enjoyed their space. The location was only 15 minutes from skiing at Sugar Mountain. We enjoyed skiing and ice skating one of our days. We will definitely look at returning for our next winter trip.

Rustic Luxury

Worth every $ and an amazing stunner. After 10 years of renting cabins in this area of the mountains, this Property Ties the top 3. The designer interiors truly gave me personally exactly what I craved. The bed was tremendously luxurious & the views were amazing to wake up to. Scheduling was easy and attentive to details. It's private which I love due to my vacation style. I work hard in real estate in Florida and needed a respite like this! Thank you and I am sure to recommend and return!

Beautiful Home w/ Great Amenities

The home is absolutely beautiful and a great space to accommodate a large group. The speakers throughout the house was an awesome feature especially when some people were upstairs and others were downstairs playing pool. I saw some reviews w/ complaints about the walls being thin, but we did not have any issues with noise. The only complaints we have are that the kitchen has dull knives, no cutting board and was lacking some other cooking basics. Other than that, the house was awesome. Our group is definitely going back this spring and next winter.

Wonderful Spring Break in Banner Elk

Many kind thanks to Joanie the property manager. We have used VRBO several times and she was an absolute joy to work with. Very communicative, informative, and available at a moments notice. We traveled with our 4 teenage boys and the house and location could not have been more perfect. Spotless upon arrival, comfortable beds, nice linens. The house is beautifully decorated and on 3 levels which gives everyone lots of space. The boys loved the "teen hangout" on the lower level with the game room and bunks! Definitely have firewood delivered as the fireplace is wonderful to use this time of year. We also enjoyed coffee on the upper deck every morning, nice outdoor furniture. The community is beautiful, drive up to the activity area, fire pits, pavilion, soccer field, beautiful view and very friendly neighbors! Banner Elk is also a sweet little town, the house is close to many activities including Sugar Mountain. We would love to return. Many kind thanks for a fantastic, memorable stay!

pool table

A pool table was listed but there were only 2 sticks on no tips on either stick so we could not use. Had to call and have extra linens delivered for the sleeper sofa.

Very beautiful place

They finally figured out the best layout for multiple couples staying in the same place. Each room was a master suite. House was gorgeous and decorated perfectly. The location was great for the Banner Elk area, the only way it would be better is if it were higher up the mountain. Working with Joanie for booking was a good experience too. The only thing they REALLY have to get on board with is the rental paperwork. They require the customer to print it all out, sign it, scan it back into softcopy form, and then email it back. This could all be solved by using electronic signatures like Docusign or something similar. Other than that, we plan to return in the future.

Had a wonderful time, very spacious, lots of windows

the House is huge, very pretty. Plenty of room for 12 people. Kitchen has everything you would need for dinners and large breakfasts. The house has lots of windows, but you are not right on top of the mountain so you won’t see mountain tops unless you drive up, if you do the whole ride is breath taking, very beautiful. Joanie Law was wonderful, very helpful and nice. The house was clean, not spot clean, but enough to feel comfortable. The only thing that drove the kids crazy was the WiFi or lack there of, very slow and almost non existent. We stayed from December 30, 2018-January 3, 2019. Enjoyed our stay even though we didn’t get snow, will book again in the future.

Great rental, property management fell short

Beautifully decorated home and we had a lovely weekend. Shortcomings were a shower without a handle (we had 8 women in our group, so a non-functioning shower was a problem). The DVD player didn't work and ate our movie. All the dishes had dried food caked on them and had to be rewashed prior to use. The refrigerator didn't cool to proper temp until our departure. I brought all these items to attention of property management company during our stay and no one came out. For the luxury expense, I'd expect the experience to match.

Luxury townhome at Eagles Nest

Stunning townhome that offers great space for multiple families. Some could watch a movie by the fire in the main level family room, while others play pool and watch football in the basement rec room. We had wonderful time and enjoyed the peaceful views. Our rental agent, Joanie, was very prompt and very friendly. "Two thumbs up".

Quite And Not To Far

The party I was included in was a group of my close friends (all of which live in Charlotte, NC) we had never been to Banner Elk (or The High Country) before. We stayed at The Rustic Cedar Rock Townhome in Eagles Nest. It was perfect for us, being so close to downtown Banner Elk we could go walk around downtown and when we got tired just jump in the car and be back "home" in minutes. Once at the property it's so quiet, relaxing and enjoyable that it's hard to believe we were that close to all the fun that comes with the small town of Banner Elk. I would recommend this property for pretty much any type of group or family (there are 4 stairs so wheelchairs might be a little difficult). The company was also very outgoing and very hospitable upon our arrival they had lights on (which means a lot if you are arriving at night), soft music playing throughout the home (surround sound speakers in all rooms) and a bottle of red wine (from a local winery)! I enjoyed the stay very much and most definitely plan on staying at this property or one of the others offered.

Well decorated but thin walls

The Rustic townhouse is a well decorated and inviting townhouse that has ample space. It is cozy and charming. It did feel a bit dark since 1/2 the light bulbs were out but that should be a relatively easy fix. Typically I would recommend this property but the walls between the two town homes is inappropriately thin. You can hear the conversations next door. The guests staying at the adjoining townhome were up late entertaining themselves at an APPROPRIATE noise level but since the walls are so thin, the noise carries and created a disturbance. They did nothing wrong since they were enjoying themselves in an appropriate manner. Each party should feel comfortable and be insulated from each other. Unfortunately that is not the case regarding this townhouse. The Property manager evidently does know the property too well either because I explicitly asked for a peaceful place. They also botched the arrival. Overall it is a shame about the property. Important elements were overlooked.
