The Highland Cottage was perfect!! We spent a lot of our mornings and evenings on the deck relaxing in the peaceful surroundings. Coopers Hawks, deer, enormous squirrels and chipmunks came to visit each day. Having a cozy, well appointed, delightfully decorated home base was just what we needed after our daily adventures in Acadia National Park. On our last morning we decided we would come back again!!! Fantastic!!

Gorgeous and quiet cottage on "the quiet side"

We loved everything about Hyland cottage -- it was rustic, charming, clean, with a lovely deck and view. Location for us was perfect -- away from the crowds but close enough to everything we wanted. Communication with host went smoothly. We hope to return!

Another wonderful stay

This is our second year in a row staying at this amazing cottage. This is the perfect base for your adventures in Acadia and beyond. The house is well-appointed, clean, and conveniently located. Great location for visiting Acadia National Park

We found the location to be very convenient, yet it was very quiet. The view of the sound was nice. We enjoyed watching the deer in the neighboring woods, and the stars were amazing! Excellent host. No problems at all with communication. We would definitely stay here again, and hope to return.

Nice rustic cabin. Good view of echo lake. The small half bath uostairs is pretty much just good for havung a second toilet.

Perfect spot on MDI

This home was the perfect spot for our vacation week. The location was just what we wanted, close to everything, but tucked away. Most days we did something in Acadia NP in the morning, came back to the cottage for lunch and to relax, and went out exploring again in the afternoon. There were good food options in Southwest Harbor and several good hikes and destinations on the "quiet side" too. The house was really well-equipped and clean with everything we needed in the kitchen and elsewhere. It's an older home that's been recently redone and was really comfortable for two adults and two kids (ages 10 and 12). We would love to come back again some time!

Restful; perfect location. Quiet!

We stayed in the Hyland for one week. Not only well stocked; stocked with class. It is more than a true cottage. Centrally located so each area of interest on Desert Island could be reached with little effort. The deer do indeed show up; one day we had the buck and all. If you seek a restful place to come home to after a delightful day of hiking, shopping or driving, Hyland is the place to settle. The trail to the St Seveurs via the Ledge trail right off 102 and then onto the Valley Perch trail is breathtaking as one can see out onto the ocean from the end of Somes Sound. We would most definitely return!

Lovely stay near the park

This quaint little cabin in the woods was perfect for our family. Some of my favorite times were the quiet mornings on the front porch watching the wildlife.

Wonderful Girls Trip

My mom, aunt, and niece joined me for a wonderful stay. We each had our own sleeping space, which was wonderful! We had most breakfasts and dinners on the deck, and even used the outside table to games! The location is perfect for visiting Acadia sites. I would highly recommend this rental!

Quiet comfortable base camp

Our family enjoyed the stay, location was great, close drive to all the hikes/activities we wanted to do and away from busy bar harbor. The owner was very responsive and helpful. Would stay again if we venture back up to Maine.

Cabin in the woods with a view

Four over fifty crowd stayed in the cabin/cottage. A really lovely setting with a view of the water, a large deck outside, very quiet! The place was well stocked with dishes, pots and pans, and even spices. Nice open feel very cute decor. The place is close to many options to eat and enjoy. Highly recommend.

Perfect Cabin Close to it All

This cabin surpassed our expectations. It is so clean and so cozy. We were able to make our breakfast in a kitchen that had everything we needed. Then we took off to hike and explore a different part of Acadia each day. We loved our time on the porch and gathered in the living space. It easily fit the five adults. What a beautiful place!

Comfortable home with view

Nice deck overlooking Somes Sound with a grill, outdoor table and Adirondack chairs. Well equipped galley kitchen, close to Ikes Point and Acadia Mt. Clean and comfortable with TV, books and games. Highly recommend for family or possibly couples/friends.
