The accommodation is a 5 minute drive out of Barnard Castle where there are plenty of options for a bite to eat plus essential shopping. Everything worked properly and was clean and smart. The bed was comfortable.
The property was very clean and comfortable. Nicely decorated and bright. The beds were lovely and comfortable and the area very peaceful and quiet. Lovely garden to enjoy too. Just a few minutes by car into Barnard Castle - Barnard Castle was such a pleasant surprise. Fab meal in the Three Horseshoes. We loved the area with the river to walk alongside and the impressive attractions in the area - like High Force, Bowes Museum (wow!) and Beamish. We will visit again.
What a wonderful place to stay excellent host, lovely building and fantastic surroundings all made more restful because of the good weather.

Property was good for the short stay we required.Well equipped, if a little short on space in the living area.Table and chairs kept getting in the way as we moved around!.Welcome pack much appreciated.
A lovely little place with a good-sized, well fenced in garden your dog can use.
A mile or so outside Barnard Castle itself, with a convenient footpath walk in and ready access to the rest of the area.
This property was lovely . Ideal location for our circular walk along the Teesdale way , pub meal to finish, then a cosy night in the cottage. It was warm, clean and well equipped. Would definitely stay again.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this lovely, tastefully decorated cottage. We had a few queries before our stay which were answered efficiently both by email and phone. The location was superb as only a short drive to Barnard Castle. Would highly recommend this property for a truly comfortable stay. Our only minor criticism was the post code for the property obviously covered a wide area and we ended up having to call the host for directions. More information as to how to find the property would have been useful to have with the booking confirmation. Overall it was great. We had a lovely stay.
Great accommodation- quiet, comfortable, well equipped; lovely hosts who left a beautiful welcome basket, non intrusive but helpful and welcoming as needed.
Really enjoyed the location, accommodation and the hosts were very welcoming - they had a minature schauzer as well.
Enjoyed the walks and the garden which is fully enclosed allowing our dog freedom to run around.
Highly recommend you stay here especially if you want to relax and just enjoy nature and the countryside. After our stay we both felt refreshed and recharged.
We had the most amazing time at cottage it was clean warm and fully equipped.
It's a walk into town but a delightful one
The garden is Fantastic my dog just loved running up and down constantly.
The area is peaceful and we barely saw a soul the owner's respect your privacy .
I really can't recommend it enough
Thank you Diane for a great weekend

The Bothy is a lovely compact conversion. It is well equipped and comfortable. The garden area was great. The weather was good so we were able to get the best of it . Our cockapoo had the time of his life in the garden . He was safe and secure. This is a great property in a beautiful area. We would definitely stay here again if visiting this area again.
Diane was very helpful. Bothy clean and well equipped. Spacious garden was lovely given the sun shone for us. Well positioned just out of Barnard Castle in beautiful countryside.
Beautifully restored old building but issue requiring dehumidifiers in bedrooms caused my asthmatic friend breathing problems during the night.
Overall a fantastic short stay.
Comfortable and well presented bothy with excellent facilities.
A long day of heavy rain kept us indoors for longer than we'd planned but the place is so peaceful and warm that it was a pleasant opportunity to read and write.
The location is splendid. Barnard Castle is just down the road, where we liked the farmers' market and, especially, the butchers' on the corner; High Force and the fells are a little farther off.
Thanks to all who run and manage the Bothy for helping us enjoy a short break in the North Pennines.

Poor intermittent reception .becomes a problem when unable to communicate with family arriving in area.
System for hot water was a nuisance
The Bothy is a very good choice if you are planning to visit Barnard Castle or North Pennines or indeed County Durham. First time ever in the region we were nicely surprised by both Barnard Castle and the city of Durham. The Bothy itself offers everything we needed for a nice stay. Its quirkiness was a nice bonus. Communication with the host was timely and hustle free. Instructions and directions were spot on! The host has made the effort to provide those little touches that make a big difference! Future goers - please read the information pack provided by the host! Host definitely deserves full marks! Only a few minor points that prevented a top score and these should be read as a future reference/things to improve rather than something bad:1. We found the twin room difficult to warm up. Master bedroom was actually smaller and has inner walls so heating it up wasn't an issue. Luckily our teens are always boiling and the host has provided sufficient bedding so there weren't issues going there for the sleep. Maybe caused by the fact that the weather temp was around zero. Most of the reviews I read are from much warmer months.2. Maybe related to the above - downstairs there was that lingering smell of damp. Once the master bedroom got to a proper temperature things were fine but with the twin bedroom - it was there throughout. 3. The TV remote probably had bad batteries whereas the dvd remote had none. Too minor an issue to bother the host.Overall - a pleasant stay!
