Stroll along the shore or follow the riverside path into nearby Berwick-upon-Tweed, rich in history with its medieval walls, Elizabethan ramparts, and a great choice of independent shops, bars and restaurants to explore. Nature lovers can take a daily boat trip to spot seals and dolphins, or visit the Farne Islands – home to puffins in season, along with seals and spectacular birdlife. By car, you can easily reach the Holy Island of Lindisfarne and the dramatic Bamburgh Castle, with its sweeping beach and lively village. Just beyond Bamburgh, you will find the attractive coastal villages of Seahouses, Beadnell and Embleton – all well worth exploring for their beaches, harbours and local charm. Inland, the Dark Skies Northumberland National Park offers breathtaking scenery and stargazing opportunities, while the nearby villages of Ford and Etal make for a lovely family day out, complete with a heritage steam railway and castle. Berwick station offers direct trains to Edinburgh (just 45 minutes) and Newcastle, and a bus service right outside the property provides easy access to Berwick centre and the east coast mainline.
