This historic hotel has loads of character and is a marvellous central location. I would suggest that it needs some decorative TLC but my room was large and with 2 huge floor to ceiling windows that looked out onto the main street. Room and ensuite were very clean and the bed was very comfortable. I met some of the hospitality staff and they were welcoming and cheerful. I would definitely return.
The service and the facilities of the room are outstanding comfortable bed.
The breakfast was amazing freshly cooked by heather who also takes your order.
Good choice of cereal, fresh fruit yoghurt and toast.
Then to follow a full cooked breakfast
Staff were welcoming and efficient. The room was comfortable and spacious.

It was a little bizarre to ‘check yourself in’ to a hotel and I’m sure in the winter months it might feel even more strange BUT everything had been thought about. The room was clean and well equipped, comfortable bed and breakfast was delicious. Communication by text told you everything you needed to know ….a very nice stay
Nice little hotel that is basically a B&B. No one staffs the front desk -- you enter with a door code that is sent by the hotel. System worked fine. Hotel is in a good location, near the water and the wall, about 12-15 min from the railway station. Breakfast was fine, although not stellar. Room and dining area were clean. We would stay there again.
Excellent property and service. Be sure to follow the check in instructions youll get by text. Rooms are really nice and in a very good area for bars and restaurants. Highly recommended

Very good
Room was clean, spacious and the beds were really comfy. The breakfast was good, cooked fresh. Free parking 100yds from hotel. Hotel central to shops and restaurents.
We just got back from a lovely stay here. Location was nice and central, hotel clean and beds comfy, staff welcoming and breakfast was great. Would visit again.
A perfect place to stay for a night or even longer
Really lovely and cosy hotel in the heart of the town. They thought of everything - even the welcome book that had a history of the building and the local area. It was engaging and fun to take time to read. The facilities were excellent and the breakfast served was tasty and set us up for the day. I would 100% recommend this hotel to everyone.
NIce hotel with free overnight on-street parking outside, which starts charging at 9am - if you get a £1 parking disk from local stores you can use to set an arrival time for the next morning which will give you til 11am and can be used widely across Northumberland. The stairs are tight, so if you have heavy luggage you may struggle. Breakfast was great and made getting up for the 10am check out worthwhile.
Lovely little hotel, evening meal was fairly average quality but good value, drink options very limited, wine by the glass was expensive. Room was small but very comfy, and clean, shower facilities was great. Breakfast was superb! And would visit again just for the breakfast
Unique as there is no receptionist
You get a key code to get into the building and a room key is waiting in the door ready for you
The room was lovely and breakfast was very nice
We would stay again
Step into David Copper Field’s apartment with his friend Steerforth. Enjoy a large English breakfast. Quiet night in this beautiful town.

Is unstaffed, hence staff score. The staff we did see were friendly and efficient. Breakfast was ok. For me, it was nice to have the run of the place. The hotel was quite cold during the day, even in the rooms (but it was cold outside, to be fair).
