About this property

2 Bed in Bideford (oc-86404)

  • Set in a peaceful position along a private drive shared only with a few properties and just 2 miles from the town of Bideford, sits this superbly renovated barn. The property overlooks a paddock which leads down to the River Torridge, where you can fish or paddleboard along the river to neighbouring villages and enjoy a tasty lunch or quick drink. Spend the day in Bideford learning about the history of this historic town or look around the plethora of independent shops, pubs or restaurants. For keen cyclists or walkers, the Tarka trail is also on your doorstep. Just 4 miles away is the sandy beach at Instow and 5 miles away is the popular coastal village of Westward Ho!, known for its surfing and long stretch of sandy beach. RHS Rosemoor is only 6 miles away and here you can spend the day walking around the 65 acres of enchanting gardens. If you are looking for adventure with the little ones, then The Big Sheep is just under 4 miles away, which is North Devon's top family attraction.

As you step into the barn, a set of stairs leads up to the first floor and into the light and airy living area of this characterful cottage. The beautiful open-plan layout offers a sociable place to spend time relaxing with family and friends, while admiring the views of the river and beyond. With comfy sofas and a wood burner, sit and relax on the cooler evenings watching one of your favourite movies on the Smart TV. The kitchen area is fully equipped with an electric oven and hob, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave, and an Nespresso vertuo coffee machine. There are also two bedrooms on the first floor, one with a king-size bed and an en-suite with a shower and WC, and then a triple bunk bedroom with a single over double. There is a family bathroom with a bath with a handheld shower and WC. On the ground floor, there is a useful utility area with a washer/dryer and a wet room with a shower, perfect for washing the sand off after a day on the beach. This area is also shared with the owners.

Stepping outside from the living area is the enclosed balcony, which has wonderful views over to the tidal river. There is outdoor furniture and a charcoal BBQ, ideal for al fresco meals. Guests are welcome to use the paddock and are also welcome to fish from the property's grounds, no license is required. There is private parking for 2 cars.
