"Good"

"Our stay here exceeded our expectations. Rooms were clean, decent size, but it was the staff and amenities that made this property truely shine. The staff was extremely helpful, we didn’t expect to eat breakfast here but after trying one day, we decided to get breakfast at hotel as much as possible. Having a warm bowl of ramen at end of day was a really nice touch. The onsen was well maintained and amazing after a long day of walking. And the little touch of having free ice cream for after using onsen was especially nice. Has free washers and coin operated dryers which we did utilize. Will definitely book again on our next visit."

"The location was great! Stores and restaurants right outside your door in the covered outdoor mall area and walkable to major stores and the Gion area. The hotel itself was adequate but pretty basic. Lobby is tiny. The area is pedestrian only from 10:00 am - midnight so if you need to take a taxi during this time, you’ll need to walk a couple blocks to the hotel. "

"The breakfast menu was fairly average, all pre-made and not that appetising (in my option). The staff were friendly and helpful enough, but the time to check in was very slow. One of the servers in the bar took our order then preceded to take other orders, and left us for a good 5 minutes sitting at the bar with nothing....so we left. Laundry facilities were good and inexpensive. The room were very very small and we were not able to unback our bags nor even place them where there they weren't in the way. Big negative. The position of the hotel was very good; close to Gion and good restaurants and other shopping. Probably the best aspect of our stay. "

"Hotel is expensive and not close to a lot of main attractions. I do not feel the Japanese hospitality in this hotel."

"I had a great experience. They made everything worry free. A shuttle from the train station. Being welcomed into the lounge to check-in in comfort. Being given a welcome drink. Then when the check-in is completed, being escorted to my room. Unheard of where I’m from. The room was exactly what I had hoped and more. The private bath on the patio was such a great treat. I was pretty dead after the last 2 weeks of being on the move and being surrounded by loud tourists. While a quick stay, this was exactly what I needed. The food. I need to make myself perfectly clear, all tasted great. I loved the experience. I will warn my picky NA eaters or people on the spectrum who struggle with textures. The kaiseki meal will likely be a struggle for you. I was fighting for my life XD. But I knew this going in and wanted to do it anyway. I’m very happy I did. My mantra, “They simply will not feed you something that tastes bad.” And they didn’t. I also asked for a drink recommendation and the plum wine and soda went crazy. So good. The staff were all awesome! I made train reservations while I was still in Kyoto and already had my tickets and couldn’t reschedule for reasons. But my train was leaving before the first morning shuttle. They had the shuttle make a special trip just for me nearly an hour early, which I was super appreciative of. All in all a fantastic place. I hope to return on my next trip, and take advantage of the other amenities. The spa looked really nice."

"This is a very special hotel. It’s walking distance to Heian shrine. Lots of good hiking spots near by. The food selection is a little sparse, but there are some good spots near by. The room was very large and we got a view of a cherry tree from our room. Joshua from the staff was very nice and set us up for a great trip."

"The hotel is truly spectacular, the most beautifully designed communal areas. The staff were incredible throughout. Highly recommend."
