"Staff was wonderful. Thought we would have a water view but didn’t. Food was expensive and limited. No where to swim and there were insects in the tent. No electricity except a small power battery packs and the fans were 3 inches so when it’s hot so are the tents. Chairs are very low which were hard to use. Shower hard to use it was either scalding or cold. "
"This apartment was so beautiful and located next to a charming Main Street with plenty of coffee shops, restaurants, bars, and cute shops.
It was perfect for the 3 of us at the end of our trip. It’s pretty close to Acadia National Park without all the regular drama of the crowd in Bar Harbor."

Historic Cottage, Updated, short drive to town. 8 years of great reviews!
10/10 Excellent
"Loved our stay in this charming historic cottage in Maine! From the moment we arrived, it was clear that this place was a true gem. Nestled in a picturesque, tranquil setting, the cottage had all the character you’d expect from a historic home. It's vintage touches that made the atmosphere feel warm and inviting. We enjoyed exploring the nearby towns full of local shops and restaurants. It was the ideal place to unwind and disconnect from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The owner was incredibly thoughtful and welcoming, providing us with local recommendations and making sure we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The cottage was stocked with all the amenities we could ask for, and the attention to detail really made a difference. We can’t recommend this cottage enough to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway steeped in history and natural beauty. We’ll definitely be back!"
Chic Farmhse Cottage, private beach, WiFi unlimited streaming/zoom, A/C, 600sf
10/10 Excellent
"The cottage is gorgeously decorated — light-filled and bright, with Belgian linen-lined alcoves and rich wood tones that strike a perfect balance between coastal simplicity and upscale charm. The covered deck overlooks the garden and fire pit, where I roasted marshmallows under the stars, and a short path leads you to a private stretch of shoreline—so peaceful and unique! Our host was wonderfully warm and accommodating. She thoughtfully provided detailed instructions on how to make the most of every feature—from setting up the fire pit to adjusting the A/C and streaming with the Wi‑Fi. A guest book brimming with local recommendations—where to dine, kayak, or hike—made planning out each day effortless and exciting. The enclosed garden is a delight. Adirondack chairs beckoned lazy afternoons. Plus, having your own private beach was a true highlight—ideal for early morning strolls, tide pooling, or simply listening to the water. Our dogs loved rollicking off leash on the beach, which was a real treat. If you’re searching for a Maine getaway with serious style, warmth, and that special touch of seaside seclusion, this is the place. Five stars, no question — I’m already dreaming of my next stay!"
"We enjoyed our stay at Barncastle! Really changed our views of Bed and Breakfasts. Didn't realize that a place could be both quaint and gorgeous *and* have modernized amenities and be comfortable! We would love to come stay again. Lizzie was so kind and welcoming. We had a wonderful stay!"
"Nice new apartment upstairs of the garage. It’s a spacious single room (except the bathroom of course), nicely laid out with pleasant lighting through windows looking out towards the trees. The “kitchen” is minimal: a dorm-sized fridge, microwave, toaster oven, water kettle and coffee maker. Sufficient for our needs but not enough for an extended stay. Given that the rental is a one-room studio with laminate flooring, the pet fee seemed a bit steep, but the apartment itself was a good bargain for the area. The location is nice -- down a steep gravel driveway, just a few blocks from the nearby shopping center and food co-op. Blue Hill town center itself is just a mile or so away, with a very nice waterfront park. We were there in early spring, but it would be a pretty spot for water activities in summer."
"Perfect location for downtown shopping and dining. Comfortable and well appointed. Short drive to many nearby attractions. Very private and quiet despite somewhat busy spot. Good parking. Historic quaint building modernized to optimize experience. "
