I stayed for an extended period of time(26 nights), and had my dog with me. The host mistakingly didn’t charge a pet fee up front, but came back later and asked for a pet fee which I paid without any fuss. When I checked out, there was damage to a couple of decorative pillows and one remote from my pet, and I informed the host prior to check out.
I cleaned the property before leaving, and went above and beyond any requirements. Once I left, the host accused my pet of having damaged more items than were damaged. The property host failed to provide any documentation or evidence regarding the reported damages, displaying a lack of professionalism. This not only raises concerns about their competence but also undermines trust with their renters. Clear communication and transparency are crucial in property management to maintain credibility and resolve issues effectively.
I purchased more than enough damage protection through VRBO when I booked the trip. The host failed to send an itemized list with costs, but rather just sent a charge and told me I had to pay the cost out of pocket and then file a claim with the company who I purchased the protection from. When I called the insurance company, they informed me that I should not pay anything up front, and I needed to give the host my policy number and they were to file a claim with the itemized list that was never sent to me. The host sent a threatening message in response and refused to respond again. Great property, poor host.
