  • REACHING NEW HEIGHTS … THE TELSTRA TOWER The Telstra Tower is seen all around Canberra but is it worth going there? We thought so. It is something to do just once and perhaps best to pick a day which is clear blue skies, little to no wind and no rain. Located at the top of Black Mountain Reserve, the drive itself is lovely even a bit hairy at times. You see, Canberrians are extremely healthy people, they love their bicycles and that’s great. However, on a windy steep road lined with bush on each side, wildlife, flora and fauna and spectacular views, it’s hard to take note of all these things as you are dodging these healthy but crazy cyclists. At the top, there is plenty of parking and the Telstra Tower stands proud. There is an entry fee and a family ticket is just $17. Once you have paid, head through the turnstiles to the lifts which will take you to the enclosed viewing platform some 870 metres above sea level. There you will discover 360o panoramic views over Canberra and beyond. Another quirky edition is the red vintage post box. There is a café and plenty of seating. If you are feeling adventurous, head up the stairs to the 1st outdoor level with the same views but this time no glass blocking the view and there is another level above that. Only recommended when no rain and slight wind. When we were there, it was an overcast day but it was a nice experience all the same.

Cook stay.

All good except key lock box was open with keys in it when we arrived. Also, couldnt shut back screen door properly.

Never stay here

This property is managed by Made Comfey, who were happy to take my money and confirm my booking, but wouldn’t release any check in details without me providing photo Verification of identity. This requirement was not listed in the listing on Stayz. I had already started traveling and did not have access to any device other than my phone, on which the provided link would not work. Multiple phone calls and lots of yelling later, we finally managed to make it work after trying 3 different phones. The company was no help and had no other solutions other than stating they had a process to follow and would not release the check in details until completed. Too bad if you don’t have a smart phone. Will never stay in any property that is managed by this company again.
