Modern Rustic Cabin with Denali View

Are you looking for the experience of a rustic Alaskan cabin with modern comforts to enjoy with family and friends? Want something close to Denali National Park but away from the crowds? Would you like to increase your chances of seeing Mount Denali? Reindeer Mountain Cabin is all of that and more. Built in the 1974, the cabin has unique carvings at the ends of the roof purlins and on the front porch, with views of Mount Denali and the Talkeetna Range. It is located a beautiful 27 mile drive south of Denali National Park. While a view of Denali can be elusive to summer visitors, at our cabin, you can step out on the porch at any hour to see if the mountain is on display.

Reindeer Mountain Cabin is approximately 1200 SF and has two bedrooms, each with one queen size bed. One bedroom has a full en suite bathroom. The second full bathroom has a washer and dryer and is located off of the hallway for ease of access. There is a queen sleeper sofa in the living room, with plenty of seating and views of the Talkeetna Mountains. The kitchen is stocked with basic pantry staples and condiments.

The cabin was originally part of Reindeer Mountain Lodge, built in the 70's and ran until the 90's, servicing the workers that built the intertie through our area. After sitting abandoned and full of storage for over a decade, the deteriorating lodge was deconstructed and the cabin was gutted and renovated. While some deconstruction currently continues on the property between guests, no work will occur while guests are in the cabin.

A greenhouse on the property has been renovated from its previous life as the original Cantwell state trooper post and single jail cell, and now provides a dining area to escape the mosquitos and cool evenings.

Wonderful Location, wonderful abode

I would definitely recommend everyone to stay here if you are visiting Denali.The location is amazing with breathtaking views as soon as you step out the house.Moreover, the host is extremely friendly and cooperative. The property itself is updated which gives you a very lavish experience at extremely affordable prices.

Roomy accommodations

This property was great for a larger group, as the living room and kitchen is large enough for everyone to hang out comfortably. The greenhouse is cute, and the river access is peaceful. Only downfall was the proximity to anything to do. If you simply need a place to sleep, this is a great spot. But if you’re looking for dinner, drinks, or close hiking trails, I’d suggest looking closer to the park, or in Healy.

Great place!

Lovely cabin

This was a beautiful cabin and great location to explore the Denali area. Communication with owner was fast and any issues were address immediately and taken care of. Owners are doing great work on the property...wish we were there longer to better enjoy all the amenities.

Reindeer Cabin

We stayed here 2 nights and saw moose from the window on 3 occasions. We also saw Mt. Denali on the morning we left. We are a family of 6 adults and had plenty of room. The cabin was very clean & comfy.

Hidden gem!

We had a wonderful time staying here. Don’t let the outside appearance deceive you. Yes it is part of a renovation in progress motel, but Inside you will find a completely renovated house with modern appliances, comfortable beds, and plush couches. Would book again!

We enjoyed our stay at this property and will consider it again if we return. Cantwell is about 30 minutes away from all the noise of tourists but not too far for activities. The cabin was nice and quiet. We saw moose daily and could see Denali on a clear day. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Denali vacay

Very clean property with lots of space and well equipped kitchen. Stayed 4 nights with extended family while we visited Denali and surrounding area. Great price for the amount of space. Outside grill would be a good addition as well as some board games.

Beautiful area

We spent a few nights as we visited Denali National Park and the Denali Hwy. The home is right next to the Denali Hwy and a short drive from the National Park. It’s a beautiful area surrounded by mountains. There’s not much in the area as far as convenience stores, but there are some nice restaurants near the park. It’s Alaska, and what we expected… remote.

Lovely cabin situated a short distance from Denali in the town of Cantwell. Well appointed, clean, and spacious. We enjoyed learning more about the history of the adjacent buildings and the plans for them. The greenhouse was the lovely cherry on top! Thank you!

Charming house near Denali

This property was so clean and spacious. It was great for 2 couples traveling together. The greenhouse was a nice bonus. We were lucky enough to wake up to a Denali view our last morning. It was amazing. It was a unique property with a history and we loved the story of how the owners are reusing a repurposing the the property adjacent. Would highly recommend this property.

Clean, cozy & comfortable

My family was impressed with all the great features. My teen daughter loved the milk frother, boys loved the smart tv, husband appreciated the coffee, and I loved how clean it was. The location is so great- 30 minutes from the Denali visitor center. Don’t be alarmed by the remote location- there are great restaurants along the way AND JamJam’s next door. Beds were very comfy. As other reviews stated, dryer isn’t efficient but having access to a washer is a great feature! We hope to return!!

Beautiful accommodations!

The updated interior was a surprise! Very nice for two couples to stay. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed. The grounds around the house we beautiful. There was also a restaurant just a few steps away. We wished we would of booked a longer stay. We didn’t use the washer and dryer, but such a good convenience to have. The location is great if exploring that whole area. The host is always available to answer questions. Mountains all around that area. We will definitely stay there again if we make it up this way again!

Great Stay

We had a wonderful stay at this property. It is about 30 minutes to the Denali entrance, but that was okay with us because we wanted to travel south for views and go to Denali National Park. We got to see the mountain two out of the four days we were there. You can even see it from the driveway! The outdoor greenhouse was cute and enjoyable when it was raining. Great moose habitat but we didn’t see any near the cabin. It had everything we needed including some coffee and tea which was a nice touch. The beds were very comfortable which was nice. It was very unassuming from the road, but it was a very nice place to stay, and we would stay there again. I enjoyed reading about the history of the property too.
