Security gate lock broken and lack of support was a concern
After returning home at 10pm from the cinema, I found the gate located at the post box area would not open with the sensor disc . I called the telephone number that was given to me for use in a case of emergency, and I informed the lady who answered my call that the gate lock was not working! She informed me that I should ring other tenants buzzers to see if anyone could help me, but no one answered their buzzer. When I called her back again and asked her to come and assist me, she replied "if she has to get out of bed and get dressed and then drive 45 minutes to the apartment and then if she finds the gate open, then I would be charged for calling Her out". I felt this threat was totally unacceptable! She had a duty to send someone without the threat!
Eventually a neighbor came down the stairs and saw me standing on the outside of the gate! I asked him to help me and he said that the gate lock was broken for several hours. Eventually this man managed to find a lady who had a key to open the gate and let me in! This lady who had the key to let me in, said that the broken lock had nothing to do with me and that the agent should not have threatened me to pay the bill for someone to come and see what was wrong! This lady demanded an apology from the agent, which I thoroughly appreciated!
The next day, the broken lock was removed and the lock repaired!
I found the situation stressful as it was late at night and it was well over one hour before a stranger came to my assistance! The streets at that time were dark and street people roaming the streets asking for money! All I wanted to do was to get inside to safety!
The building should have clear signs up stating what to do if the gate lock fails to work. Perhaps a telephone number of someone inside the block would have been a great help!
The lady that I called was rude and disrespectful. I would not recommend any of my friends to stay at this place for security reasons and the lack of support from the agents!
