“Clean room but a little dated. ”

“The building could do with a refurb. However our room although tired was clean. There was no lift to use but the staff were more than happy to carry our bags upstairs. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Restaurant food was good. ”

“I embrace historic charm and quirkiness; what I don’t like are doors to bathrooms and bedrooms that don’t shut properly and lack of cleaning. The bedroom was described as deluxe double but there is nothing deluxe about it. The carpet was stained and had not been vacuumed recently as evidenced by dead flies and numerous bits. The door to the bedroom could not be properly closed and there was no lock. I’m not sure why this couldn’t be rectified as the door frames seemed relatively new and……

“Absolutely wonderful stay. We were made to feel so welcome and well cared for. After letting the team know about our special dietary requirements (gluten-free), the manager was outstanding in ensuring we were fully accommodated — to the point that the service surpassed what I’ve experienced in some so-called 5-star hotels. A special mention to Evie, who was an absolute delight. Our room was clean and beautifully presented — a testament to excellent housekeeping.”

“Smell of weed in the hallway and out bathroom got flooded with soap”

“The beds were comfortable. Sadly I felt many things were tired the towels (only one shower towel provided we had to use hand towels), the two frying pans were crumbling away and I feel not fit for purpose. A general feeling of a spring clean is due, especially in draws, also the rugs in the living rooms are hazardous as the non slip backing is worn out. The character of the chapel is fabulous. ”

“Large spacious room, very comfortable with great views of the village green. Lots of parking. Bathroom was spotless. Well stocked with tea, coffee and continental breakfast items (The Bell currently doesn’t offer a cooked breakfast). The pub restaurant was epic - fantastic menu with additional ‘specials’ and great desserts. Obviously popular with locals and repeat diners. The pub bar was friendly and a good range of ales on tap. Service was superb throughout and I’d recommend The Bell……

“This place wasn’t what we hoped for so we didn’t stay. The room was not as big as it seemed on photos, no room to put our suitcases out. Room was dated and doors opened out onto parking lot. Very dark, no lights outside and muddy from a water main break. To make matters worse, a policeman knocked on door to say there had been an armed robbery nearby and offender was seen nearby. Very scary and unnerving. We decided we couldn’t stay and found another hotel. Swan House were not willing to refund.……
