Easter Getaway

Wonderful cottage full of all the amenities you could dream of! Peaceful and quiet nestled into the woods but with a wide open view of beautiful Lake Huron and fantastic sunsets! So much room for all of our 12 family members and 2 dogs, with a great games room that kept everyone as busy as they wanted to be. We would love to return one day!

Baseball and Chill

We have previously stayed in another cottage with cottagestays.ca and decided to try Woodland Cottage this year. We absolutely loved it. It was perfect for our whole baseball team (14ppl) to relax and recover after our tournament, the beautiful view was an added bonus. We will definitely try and book it again next year.

Perfect Long Weekend

We had such an enjoyable time at Woodland Private retreat. Our group was able to relax by the water, around the kitchen island and in the basement. A little day trip to Bayfield was also a nice plus! We've stayed at Cottage Stays in the past, and have always been treated fantastically. Can't wait to come back!

Great weekend stay

This Woodland retreat was perfect for our friend group weekend away! Great location, easy access to the water, and picturesque views from the deck. The cottage itself was spacious, more than enough bedrooms, and plenty of room that we were never tripping over each other. Great communication about the accommodations well in advance of the weekend so we were never left in the dark about anything. Would definitely recommend staying here, and would love to stay here again!

Amazing Stay

This cottage is a great place to get away for a weekend or week. My cousins and I stayed here for a weekend and we thought it was perfect. It was secluded with an amazing view of the lake. The sun sets directly on the lake so you have a perfect view. Inside, the photos doesnt do the space justice. the house is very spacious upstairs and downstairs. Jennifer was an awesome host as she checked in regularly to make sure our needs were met. 5/5 would definitely stay again.

Wonderful Woodland Oasis

We absolutely loved our stay at the Woodland Private Retreat! What a wonderful oasis. We were greeted with the stunning view of sunny Lake Huron through magnificent west-facing windows. The house is incredibly spacious and has both a luxurious and cozy-cottage feel to it. The property is magnificent. The woodlands on both sides give a lovely degree of privacy. We often sat on the patio out back and enjoyed the singing cicadas and crickets, and several nights sat around the firepit and watched a gorgeous sunset while listening to crashing waves below us. We also loved the private path down to the beach area -- although a little steep at the start, the switchbacks make the mini trek very manageable and pleasant. The six of us ranged in ages from 56 to 83, and we all enjoyed the entire experience. My sister's Australian shepherd was in his element in this highly dog-friendly place. It was wonderful to have an array of indoor and outdoor games available for those of us who wanted to play pool, or bat a volleyball around (for example). There's so much to do and see around the area as well (e.g., we hiked, went to a winery, explored Bayfield and Goderich, went to outdoor markets). The folks from CottageStays managed our inquiries wonderfully, and it's clear they care deeply about the place and want you to have a terrific vacation. We really really did. I can't thank you enough -- both the owners and the CottageStays folks. We'd definitely like to come back!!

Our experience at the Woodland Retreat cottage

We enjoyed the well-maintained well-equipped cottage. We got a guidebook that explained a lot about living at that cottage. Unfortunately, the heating in the basement, which was separate from the heating upstairs, did not work. Hot water for showers was a little problematic. Other than these inconveniences, we enjoyed our stay there. Communication with the owner was very good.

Memories were made Easter 2023

Our family getaway at the Woodland Private Retreat fully exceeded everyone’s expectations. Apart from the house being immaculate upon arrival the owners thoughtfully had Easter/Spring decor throughout the home. The house was well equipped with everything we needed. Lots of fun things for both the kids and adults. And yes, big enough to sneak away for some privacy as well. Even thou the sun shone for the entire time it was cool. Bundled up a nice walk on the beach rejuvenated you. Or there was the shopping in Bayfield for the ladies. I think we hit every store. So quaint! One of the best features of the house is the Sunsets! The view looking out the window of the Sun disappearing into Lake Huron took your breath away. The variation of colours mystified you. We even had a full moon tucked in behind the trees. Jennifer, thank you for being an amazing host! Just a text/phone call away.❤️ This getaway was a breath of fresh air for everyone!

A great place for a large family thanksgiving holiday!

Our two families had a wonderful weekend at Woodland Private Retreat! Jennifer at CottageStays was very accommodating answering questions and making us feel welcomed! Mother Nature prevented us from spending any time outdoors, however, the cottage was extremely roomy for the 12 of us! Plenty of room for quiet reading, or chatting, or playing games both upstairs and downstairs. The pool table was a hit for all of us! We will definitely to this again next year!

Beautiful views

The cottage is very spacious, clean, well equipped and well situated. The views were spectacular, especially sunsets. There were many things to do in the area, including swimming, hiking, shopping. We would certainly return.

An absolutely amazing week with family!

The Woodland Private Retreat LaVrangue house was absolutely beautiful and everything we could have wanted. We stayed for a week with our children and grandchildren and came away with memories that will last a lifetime. Large open spaces in the house to be together, kitchen had lots of room to be able to prepare meals, tiered outdoor deck with so much space! But the most amazing part in our eyes, was the incredible backyard. It had a breathtaking view of the lake (sunsets were fabulous) an immense sandpit for the kids including toys, and a firepit for evening singing and telling stories! We so loved it, we hope to be back again next year!!
