Downtown Phoenix Hotel
2/10 Terrible
"After driving for 13 hours I was excited to find a cheap option in phoenix. Pictures definitely fooled me… I walked in to my room and went to plug in my cell phone charger… was greeted by a trail of cockroaches running in and out of the baseboard. Thank god I didn’t unzip any of my luggage. Refund process was pretty easy thank god"

Red Roof Inn Phoenix - Midtown

"Booked this spot for $204 thinking I’d get a decent night’s rest, a shower, and a general sense of “I’ll probably survive.” Technically… I got 2 out of 3.
Arrival felt less like check-in and more like entering a VIP event where the dress code is “follow the car in front of you and hope for the best.” Gated? Yes. Secure? Let’s call it… optimistic. Bonus entertainment included distant gunshots, tire screeches, police lights like a disco ball and some very entrepreneurial night walkers making their rounds. Don’t make eye contact if you aren’t look for a short term roommate for the night.
The room itself had personality. The mattress, for example, tried to fold me into it like a taco the moment I sat down. I’m not that heavy, but it clearly had ambitions. Sheets were bug-free (huge win), though they did feature a few artistic burn holes…abstract expressionism, cigarette edition. Cockroaches were very kind to stay outside, or at least not make an appearance inside so for that I am thankful.
The bathroom? A visual experience. I considered showering but ultimately decided my shoes deserved better, and my dignity agreed.
End result: I slept in my clothes, hood up, headphones on, door locked like Fort Knox, and one eye open like a paranoid raccoon. Woke up alive, car still there, and honestly… that’s a successful stay.
Would I recommend it? Only if you enjoy a little adrenaline with your overnight accommodations. Not for the faint of heart, but definitely unforgettable.

Home2 Suites by Hilton Phoenix Downtown
6/10 Okay
"It’s important to note this property does not have a pool and our room did not have a tub. This was an error on my part and didn’t affect my review, because it was my mistake.
The rooms are spacious but had areas of damage in multiple places. The door was chipped on both sides, there were broken parts on both night stands and the bathroom door would swing. One of the beds was sagging in the middle and sounded like it was going to break in half every time you rolled over.
On the surface, it appeared clean, but on a closer look, the sofa had a foul smell, the floor of the shower was black and discolored. There were also stains/splatters on the shower walls There were dirty dishes in the dishwasher on arrival too.
The TV connection was hit or miss.
You must pay to park, which was a little costly but the valets are quick and it was easy.
They advertised a happy hour with drinks and appetizers. The bar does open at 4, but not sure what the happy hour pricing was and there is no food. They were very helpful recommending nearby places. It doesn’t always stay open to 10 as advertised.
The breakfast bar is ok, the waffles were good and the coffee bar 24/7 is a great option
It is right next to a train track, but that did not bother us.
For positives, the staff were ALL extremely nice The location is great for sports games as you can walk, easily, to all the places. Getting around downtown is also very easy from this location. "

"Yes, this place is historic, and unfortunately it shows. Very thin walls, tiny bathroom, strange furniture layout. Location is great if you're doing something right downtown, but for my travel needs, we won't be going back here. "
