Downtown 1850's Mansion in Historic Charleston
Summary:
Enjoy a refined antebellum experience with amenities both new and crafted from reclaimed pieces of Charleston history. This property features 9 unique queen bedrooms and 6 beautiful bathrooms. This includes truly Charleston private porches and patios, incredibly crafted kitchens, living spaces, and private entrances. Every detail has been fully renovated to feature antique heart pine flooring, tongue and groove walls, and European hardware dating to the original period of the home.
The Space:
The Charlestonian summons the essence of a truly refined Antebellum Charleston experience, through truly paired with every modern convenience.
The kitchens are timeless centerpieces, featuring timeless La Cornue gas ovens and cooktops from Saint-Ouen-l’Aumône, France, complemented by whisper-quiet, American-made Vent-A-Hoods. Guests are invited to celebrate Old World culinary traditions using top-of-the-line All-Clad cookware and glassware. Custom cabinetry, kitchen islands, and soaring eight-foot barn doors are handcrafted on-site from reclaimed heart pine, sourced during the home’s renovations.
Entertainment is seemlessly modern with Samsung 4k Smart televisions, offering complimentary access to Xfinity cable, Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and Hulu.
Each bedroom is designed for rest, offering sound machines and smart charging stations, surrounded by cypress shiplap walls and centuries-old heart pine—much of it dating back to the early 1600’s.
The bathrooms are masterful blend of history and luxury, tiled with original repurposed Vermont slate dating to 1851, when the house was built by shipwrights. Salvaged standing-seam tin from the original front porch roof forms a striking backsplash behind the hand-hammered, nickel-plated vessel sinks. Period-inspired water closets sourced from Kent, England complete the Old World aesthetic.
Outdoors, guests can embrace the Charleston tradition: relaxing on the porches and enjoying the coastal breeze. Rocking chairs overlook Cannon Street, while a private rear porches and patios offer additional space to unwind, complete with a lounge sofa and Acorn barbecue grill.
Operating Permit: OP2025-06529
Guest Access:
We are three blocks from King Street. Cannon Street dead ends into King where you would be right in the middle of all the activity - many nice restaurants such as The Darling, the Grocery, Ordinary, Endaco, good places to have drinks like Stars, the Belmont, Midtown, Prohibition. There are also great niche restaurants closer than King Street. Pick the experience - fine dining to relaxed outdoor dining, it is here. You could look up Hominy Grill, Chez Nous, Trattoria Lucca, Fuel, Goulette. Since Cannon Street (and Spring Street) are the only legal areas in the city to host an AirBnb in Charleston, you will be in good company here.
The Neighborhood:
Cannonborough is an inviting downtown neighborhood in the center of the historic peninsula that blends boutique eateries, bespoke shops, and Charleston's historic architecture. Walk to King Street to enjoy some of the area's top dining and shopping with exceptional food, entertainment and sight-seeing.
Getting Around:
There is plenty to see and places to visit within walking distance. Uber and Lyft are readily available.
Other Things to Note:
We are three blocks from King Street, right in the middle of all Charlestonian activity. Incredible restaurants such as Southbound, Verns, 167 Raw, Malagon, Indaco, and Azur. Great places to have drinks are even closer at places like Felix, Stars, Babas, and Prohibition. There are also great niche restaurants closer than King Street, such as coastal Italian at Allora or creative Indian at Rivayat.
If you want the full Charleston experience, a walking tour or carriage tour is a must. If you have sea legs and are aiming for total immersion into history, the steamboat runs to Ft. Sumter daily and you can land your two feet exactly where the Civil War started.
