Great private property
This property is perfect for visiting Chattanooga! We were able to do all the sightseeing on Lookout Mountain and go downtown Chattanooga, both locations within 10 minutes. It made it convenient to stop by between activities and change our clothes or put shopping away. we were able to walk to dinner on our first night and explore the cute area of Saint Elmo. I highly recommend this location for visiting Chattanooga.

Great place
The Carriage house was exactly as pictured. Very comfortable and well stocked for our short stay. It was located close to great restaurants and not far to downtown Chattanooga. We enjoyed Ruby Falls and would have explored more but it wouldn’t stop raining!!

Sweet Suite!
This place had everything we needed for a 3-night stay. It is small, cozy, and perfect for 2 people. We hiked, biked to the riverwalk path, and ate a few meals all within walking distance.

Spring Vaca
This was such a great place. Very clean and convenient. I walked to eating and coffee shops. Downtown Chattanooga was very close. I love "old" magazines and there was a stack of them in the LR!! I ate pizza and ice cream and read books for 3 days. Great vacation! I will be back to see the gardens. I want to adopt the owners! Great people!

Anniversary
The host was a really sweet lady, and office person was so friendly. The apt was clean and very well decorated. There were nice touches such as a few snacks and bottled water. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and hope to use them again.

Not happy
Space very small, reduced no way to cook a meal nothing near for groceries not coming back to that place. We left the property 5 days early 😡😡. Hot water not even enough for a shower to many things to list. We not coming back to this place again

We're sorry you were not satisfied with your stay. We were very surprised at your review and wish you had said something while you were here. There are 2 major grocery stores within 3 blocks, Food City and Publix, which are listed in the guest manual. I'm sorry you missed it. The water heater is less than a year old. We couldn't find anything wrong with the hot water supply or settings. Again, I'm sorry you didn't let us know as we live onsite. This is a small apartment but does have a well stocked full kitchen. The pictures are accurate. We have many repeat guests who stay for extended times and are very happy with their stay. I'm sorry we can not fulfill your refund request due to our refund policy.

The Perfect Getaway
I love The Bear House. This is our second time staying here. The Loft and The Shurvey. Both were excellent. I love the owners and the little things that are added in each space to make our stay comfortable - like sound machines, extra rugs so your feet don’t get cold, snacks, etc. The owners are so sweet and friendly. We will be back again!

The Bear House .... A Scenic City Gem
My husband and I stayed in the "Sherfey Suite", which is the first floor of the carriage house, while visiting my sister and her family who live on Lookout Mountain. This was my third stay at the Bear House, which is always a wonderful visit. Clean, safe, well-decorated .... and that cute garden! Beautiful job, Steve and Sharman Sherfey, on all the years of taking great care of your guests.

Great Location, Great Hosts, Great Stay!
I came to Chattanooga for a quick getaway from Atlanta. The Sherfey Suite was the perfect size for me and I really, really appreciated that it had a full kitchen (with spices!). The suite is a little quirky, but very clean and would be spacious for one or two people. It's literally at the base of Lookout Mountain, there are restaurants and attractions in walking distance and it's less than 10 minutes to get to downtown Chattanooga. If you have difficulties with stairs or movement or balance, you may not want to stay in the Sherfey Suite - the shower/tub is raised nearly a foot off the floor and it might be very tricky to get in and out of if you aren't physically stable. (But I hope you'd find another suite that suits you at the Bear House - it really is so charming, and such a nice place to stay.) Had a great time, will definitely recommend to my friends and would love to come back again!

This cozy carriage house one bedroom was everything we needed. The location was ideal, within walking distance to restaurants. The carriage house was neat and clean and looked just as advertised. It was well equipped with everything we could need a more. We would definitely stay here again.

The cottage was just as pictured on line with beautiful setting areas outside... The cottage had lots of detailed "extras" that made the stay very comfortable. We could hear the guests above us walking around if we were inside during the day but at night .. when sleeping we didnt hear anything.. would definitely stay here again!

While the Carriage House was small, it was clean, well designed, beautifully decorated and was full of nice amenities. Within walking distance to St. Elmo's district businesses and the Incline Railway. A short drive to Rock City and Ruby Falls. The outdoor gardens are amazing.

Very clean, comfortable bed, good water pressure in the shower, quiet location...all the basics in place. Additionally I found this small apartment to be well stocked and supplied with "extras" including plenty of good coffee, and special snacks. There were nice toiletries from Good Fortune Soap Co. As a woman traveling alone, I liked the safe feel of the place as it is located in the backyard of a large family home. The owner lives on the property and check in was easy. My five year old granddaughter, who lives nearby, visited and really enjoyed exploring the large yard with surprises sprinkled throughout. She especialy liked the Treasure Cove with all its hidden "jewels". This seems to be an experienced host who has thought to provide such extras as a step stool for the kitchen and a white noise machine for the bedroom. Though it does contain a full kitchen, it is tiny with limited counter space so that might be an issue if you need to do a lot of cooking. It was more that adequate for my simple meals. Thanks for a wonderful stay. I would definitely stay again. Five Stars!

Perfect Place While Visiting Chattanooga
The Sherfey Suite was perfect for two people. We stayed three nights while visiting. Everything was clean and as represented in the listing. The coffee bar and snacks were a nice bonus. The outdoor space was our favorite part. I read in one of the nooks in the morning and we sat in the swing in the evenings with a glass of wine and listened to music. We had it all to ourselves. Highly recommend and would stay here again for sure. Thanks for a great stay!

This was perfect for our stay in Chattanooga close to everything! The most pleasant couple that own it was so sweet to talk to. They’re property was so beautiful to sitting around before or after our outings 🥰 they had everything we needed and more! We were visiting from Michigan for a wedding. The place was very nice inside and out. Clean!!! Bed was comfortable and kitchen well stocked with coffee and goodies. We stayed in the carriage house. My sister rented the upstairs and we had the lower level with option to open interior stairway. Very convenient. Easy walk to several restaurants, ice cream and a CVS. Would definitely stay again!

Charming place
Highly recommend. We stayed in the Sherfey Suite of The Bear House. The Suite was fine for two adults. Very clean and well stocked with basic necessities (tin foil, saran wrap, dish detergent, soaps, etc.) The snack basket was full with granola bars, moon pies, popcorn, breakfast bars, etc. We are not coffee drinkers but the Keurig and Kcups seemed to be plentiful. The communal outside/garden area was charming. So many places to sit and enjoy a beverage, read a book or just relax. The St. Elmo district is a quaint area of beautiful homes. A walkable section to explore the architecture. Short drive to downtown Chattanooga. Recommend The Purple Daisy Cafe. Do not recommend Crust for their pizza. Very cardboad like. Mr. T's was closed when we were there or that would have been our first choice. Ruby Falls, and the Incline were great. Rock City was wonderful. Went at 8:30 AM and it was a beautiful time to go (not crowded and the mist still in the air.) Overall - highly recommend this place for both location and charm.

Site seeing on Lookout Mountain
This location was great because we were close to everything we wanted to visit. After a long drive here it was nice to not have to drive much to get to everything. Hosts were helpful too!
