Great location

This small house provided a big relief in our trip. Located steps from the best lobster roll in town and about a block from the water, this is a FANTASTIC spot for getting away.

Perfect Menemsha Getaway

I was hesitant to stay because there were no reviews for Wayside Camp, but I am so glad we took the chance. The cottage had the perfect rustic charm you want when staying up island. The location was perfect for exploring with plenty of parking. Everything you need except your food was provided, even amenities like beach chairs, toys and games, and a brand new bbq grill. The kitchen was charming, but functioned well for our family. The sheets and towels were great quality and the beds were comfortable. The claw door tub and nice deck furnishings made for relaxation all day. We wish we could stay all summer.

Dismissive Service

The location is convenient, but the positives end there. I’m not sure if we should blame Vacasa customer support or the owner, but we had two very basic requests: laundry detergent (a must when traveling with small children) and working smoke detectors—the place had NO WORKING SMOKE DETECTORS (dead batteries)! When I contacted customer support they asked us to look for batteries and detergent, and we explained there were none. They then said someone would bring by replacement batteries (because in Massachusetts it’s illegal to not have working smoke and carbon monoxide detectors), but nobody ever came. This is truly a dangerous situation, it violates MA fire safety laws. But Vacasa doesn’t care about renter safety, or following the law. The talk about having on-site support staff for renter issues is clearly a lie—it shouldn’t have been difficult to have someone drop off detergent and batteries. I won’t be using Vacasa again.
