“I needed a place near the Saxon sites and Cathedral. And it didn't hurt that the Westgate was just a five minute walk from the rail station. It's an old place, and it had the feel of the ages in the floors and doors. But that was part of the overall experience for me. It had charm. The staff was very accommodating, and I had breakfast, lunch, and dinner at the Westgate. It was all good. And it was across the street from the medieval Westgate to the city as well. I would stay there again if ever……

“Fantastic view of the cathedral from our room. However the room and hotel were a little tired. There were cracked tiles on the bathroom floor, and the bathroom light switch was in a dangerous condition…arcing at the slightest touch. There never appeared to be any staff available and the buffet breakfast…well, don’t bother paying for it! You can get a fabulous breakfast at one of the many cafes available nearby!”

“There is no guest house, it's a scam, fraud, fake. I want my money back! They accept booking, you get confirmation and you don't get room, they don't answer your call. Need to report it to every possible site!”

“Rooms were fine, lots of nice scenic views. Staff were helpful and friendly, wasn't impressed with the food though. The unseasoned steak I ordered didn't see the inside of a frying pan at all and the breakfast was a bit low on the portion side of things considering it was about £11 per person. Lovely IPA on tap at the bar though!”

“The staff was incredibly helpful and patient with us. Never having been in Southhampton, or much in the UK, we were a little high maintenance. Thank you all. You made it easy.”

“Worst hotel I’ve stayed in. Yes it was budget and it was just for an overnight stop in a continuing journey but broken tiles, broken and damaged panels & threadbare curtains. No staff available in the morning to discuss. Just very Delapidated and way past worn out!!”

“Good: The decoration of the room is cozy and in good classic style There is a bar on the ground floor which is good Staff are nice and friendly Bad: Strong smell in the bathroom which is disgusting, we think that comes from the eroding wood The water boiler is not clean and there is even water remain inside Being asked for the room key after check out but believe their staff mixed things up (Wrong number tag on the key)”

“Charming and cozy little inn, well suited as a base for area excursions. Provides the basics, doesn't try to do more, though the pub is solid.”

“The room was fairly basic, minimalist! There were no spare blankets available but the room had heat available in the hotel. The restaurant ordering was all by QR code - no cash. The food was good. The outer corridors was noisy until 9.45pm with small children running up and down and yelling unsupervised. I didn’t report it hoping the parents would act like parents!”

“The hotel is clean, but the shower drainage is too slow. Having hesitation of flooding during shower.”

“A good note, a bit pricey for the quality of the amenities. However, in Winchester there is not much choice of good properties so feel we chose well”

“Can't give a review as we the taxi driver his sat nav and I could not even find the place, finally got to an address but it was a flat, no reply when we knocked. tried to contact you and place but could not send email for some odd reason. Tried again and again no success. I then had to find another place to stay, thankfully the taxi driver was very helpful, feeling bad for me. Really would think twice about trusting you in future, not a good experience. ……
