“Absolutely delightful hotel. Me and a friend booked a room each for the Hay Festival, and we couldn’t have been happier with our stay. The staff were wonderful; helpful, friendly, even showed us to our rooms. The location was great, not too far away but far enough that I’d was quiet and tranquil. The breakfast is well worth the money, as is the Old Barn pub across the road, where we ate that night. A fantastic stay, I can’t wait to return with my husband next time.”

“The approach to the hotel is stunning—neat, tidy, and very impressive. From the moment we arrived, we received a warm welcome from reception, with staff who were both friendly and informative. Our room was delightful, featuring a beautiful four-poster bed complete with drapes. The furniture had an eclectic, well-loved charm that added character to the room while remaining spotlessly clean. “We found 7 Bell Street perfect and as good as the photos. Very well equipped and tastefully decorated. Comfortable beds, and seating. Plenty of books magazines, information leaflets. Kitchen essentials Fresh milk marmalade and much more. Our hosts very helpful and welcoming. ”

“Good hotel. Nice clean rooms, with windows that open properly! Very helpful staff. Car park is quite tight, but there is a big public one a couple hundred meters away. Online check-in seems unnecessary and causes a bit of confusion.”

“Wagon was in a lovely location on a farm and owner was very nice, once I managed to find the farm , but checking in time or instructions would have been helpful . Bed was comfortable and I did appreciate the tea, sugar and milk provided , but the room itself was quite cold -with one tiny inadequate heater . Bathroom was also very cold and smelled very damp and unfortunately the toilet seat was loose and shooting off to one side. ”

“Easy parking for a few cars, The Castle Hotel is a good place to stop in the area. The staff were very helpful and the check in and out was very easy but the rooms and amenities would benefit from a bit of maintenance and a deep clean.”

“The local church is lovely and worth a visit. Good walks on Offa's Dyke's path. The property would suit a book fanatic as the place is full of expensive first edition copies and cobwebs! Barking dogs at night from a nearby property kept us awake. Otherwise ok. ”

“Loved the room (room 3) overlooking the park. Very comfortable bed and a very quiet spot. Parking is a bit tight! Nice friendly owners and nice breakfast.”

“Great location, very friendly and helpful owner (Steve), excellent facilities and very comfortable holiday home ….with 7 days of 20+ temperatures and wall to wall sunshine ! …only very slight negative being that the windows could prob do with a better clean given the great views. Steve’s recommendation of the Seven Stars at Aberedw about 2 miles away was also excellent…nothing fancy about the food but very tasty, good portions and a really nice environment in a community owned country pub.”
