"If you have a car, and have the good fortune to be traveling in the Douro Valley, this place is not to be missed. It is a bit hard to get to, but well worth the effort. Fantastic setting, beautiful rooms and amenities, and 5-star service. This is a family-run guesthouse, and Maria knows the area, the history, the products, and the hospitality business. Just a gem. "A stunning view of the Douro valley. We had an excellent dinner. One needs to make reservations beforehand to eat there. There is nowhere else in the area to dine. We were not given a dinner option however, the roast beef dinner was excellent as well as the dessert. The car ride up is a bit sketchy because it’s a VERY narrow to lane road winding up a Mt !! However the view makes the trip most worthwhile. Bedroom was nicely decorated and comfy. "
