Family gathering
We had a small family reunion. The property was perfect for what we needed. Plenty of rooms and space for us all. Wrap around porch was shaded and cool, perfect for morning coffee with a great view of the lake. Boathouse/dock was perfect for swimming and fishing. Enough kayaks and life jackets for all. We had a wonderful time. Highly recommended!

Labor Day Family Trip
This lake home was perfect for our family trip. We loved the layout of the home and all the outdoor sitting areas. The landscape of the home was absolutely gorgeous and the kayaks were so much fun! We would definitely recommend this home. The host was very accommodating and offered solutions for parking for our large family. We had several other inconveniences (for the host) that they were more than happy to help with. I can’t say enough about how perfect our stay was!

We were in the area for my father’s celebration of life and needed a spot that was large enough to accommodate our entire family of 16 as we all wanted to be under one roof. This place easily accommodated us all allowing for space for privacy as needed. Given that we had four families this was important. The views were beautiful as well. The kids did complain about the weakness of the internet but it was kind of nice to be off grid so to speak. Perhaps our only complaints were the lack of enough towels for all of us, at least where we could find them, and the distance to a grocery store. Otherwise, it was excellent and allowed us to lay our father to rest in a peaceful way without worry that we’d need to be spread out all over the area and could all be together. Thanks y’all!

I loved staying at Lakeside!
I truly want to give this property a bad rating just so no one else will stay here and I can more often but that is truly selfish!! It's a great place for the family and friends to get away from it all and reconnect with each other. There is plenty of room to all be together without being on top of each other.

Awesome lake house!
Our Girl Scouts troop and moms had an amazing time at this lake house! The girls kayaked and swam all day, loved the loft/bunk bed area. There was plenty of room for our large group, and especially loved the wraparound deck with so many tables and chairs. The house had everything we needed and was so comfortable. We would absolutely stay there again!

Lakeside 2022
We had a wonderful time ! The house and property were the cleanest of any place we've ever stayed. We loved every part of what the property had to offer - inside space, outside space, fire pit, kayaks, skiff, etc. We even took long walks around the area. Too cold to go swimming but I'm sure the lake is inviting in the summer. The house is so spacious and it was such a luxury to have room for 5 familieis worth of stuff : )

Great house for a large family reunion
The lake is the big draw of this property. The many kayaks and the boat docking area were a big draw for most of our group. The rowboat is out of commission, but there are lots of kayaks. There is a little area right at the dock where it's shallow and good for kids. The stairs were just as shown in the pics, but they are no joke. We had thought we could help one of our less mobile seniors down to the dock area, but really it's way too many steps. That's our own fault, but just something to really be aware of. We had a photographer come in for an afternoon and the property had lots of little spots for great photo backgrounds. Great having 2 fridges, and plenty of extra beds for kids to spread out in and feel like they have their own space. Almost no cell phone reception at all with T-mobile, though wifi was good. Excellent property. Great communication with owners.

Perfect Family Reunion
Our group of 20 thoroughly enjoyed holding our family reunion at the Lakeside property. I contained everything we needed and the location was great for keeping everyone entertained. Loved having the kayaks included, having access to the recreational area for basketball & pickleball, and plenty of walking areas. More vacation rentals should be like this one...king beds in all bedrooms!!

We celebrated 13 years together as a TEAMS group at our church on this retreat. It was the perfect space with individual bedrooms all with queen beds. A rare find for 5 couples. Mark and Brenda have created a beautiful oasis with all the amenities on Houston County Lake! We will be back.

A Gem of a Vacation Rental in Crockett
My family has been doing an annual family retreat since 2016. This year we decided on the Vacation Country Rentals properties in Crockett, TX owned and operated by Mark and Brenda Copus. We stayed at the Lakeside House which sleeps up to 22 guests. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The property was immaculate with plenty of space for everyone. The views of the lake from the house were astonishing. The decking around the house and leading out to the dock was done with much detail... excellent. We never had a dull moment. With three years into the family retreats, this has been by far the best experience, and the others that we have stayed at were no slouches either. We love the Lakeside House so much so, that we are already considering a return next year. Finally, we were able to meet both Mark and Brenda during our stay. They are very gracious and kind and I discovered even more about their amazing journey to acquire the Lakeside House...a very touching story. Kudos to a job well done.

Lakeside Perfection
Two years in a row and two years of wonderful relaxation. It really is a perfect spot! We rented in June last year and July this time. Although it was hotter this time, we still were amazed at how cool it was on the porch. The house and accommodations were everything anyone would hope for. I did a very detailed review of ALL the accommodations last year, so won't do that now. Just the fact that a family of 18-20 returned and we all agreed, should count for something. The swimming and kayaks are a major attraction to the grandkids. To top it off the upstairs is big enough for them all to hang out, play their games and we don't hear them downstairs :) If they do come downstairs to play games with us, there is plenty of room. Best of all the owners are extremely pleasant and helpful. God willing we will return next year. Thank You for a memorable time!!

Lovely home, great for family reunion
We had a great stay in a lovely home in a rural, lakeside setting that exceeded expectations. It was obvious that a lot of thought went into the grounds, landscaping and lighting. The home has large bedrooms, a beautiful veranda porch, multiple dining and lounging areas, swimming and small craft boating right from the private dock. Our stay wasn’t long enough to explore any nearby points of interest as our focus was on family during our stay.

This was the best property our family has ever booked. It had everything from a well equipped kitchen to an extraordinary layout of the property for maximum family fun. We ate every meal out on the wrap around covered porch, which saved a lot of clean up after meals. We loved the water activities, the beautiful grounds and plants and we were able to have our Family Olympic challenge on the big deck down by the water. Perfect house and property for our large group of 6 families!
We have been traveling on Labor Day with 5 other families for years and it can be a challenge to find a place to stay together but not feel on top of one another. This property and house were perfect! Both the adults and kids from 10 - 17 years old had a great time on the kayaks and floating in the lake. The layout of the house couldn't have been better. We were able to eat and gather all together as well as space to have the kids do their own thing when they wanted. We would totally recommend this house for anyone looking to escape the city and chill with family and/or friends!!!
