"This hotel is in a perfect location for visiting Amsterdam. Built in 1908, and originally a theater, the building has character. Repurposed as a hotel in 1989 the property has been renovated with the exception of the carpeting. Steps in any direction would take you to the The Royal Palace of Amsterdam, an AMAZING farm to table restaurant, recommended to us as we checked in, canal views, shopping, public transportation... The bathrooms were clean and the linens were pristine. Rooms had windows that opened to allow for a comfortable breeze on occasion. When we arrived, the weather had been a exceptionally warm and there was a bit of a musty odor as if the room had been closed up for a bit, however the open window quickly refreshed the air. Daily housekeeping was delightful to return at days end to refreshed beds and fresh towels. The available breakfast buffet was delicious, fresh cheeses and meats, breads, pastries, eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, yogurts, fruit, juices, coffee, tea... with a more than spacious dining area. Multiple sitting areas were available in and around the lobby to meet with fellow travelers, family, or friends. The staff was always gracious, helpful and kind."

The people at the front desk were friendly & helpful, providing advice on how to make my stay more comfortable & convenient, as well as the food options & attractions in the area. The hotel itself did not offer many amenities beyond a clean room & safe facilities overall. While it was a bit overpriced for the location & what you get, I've found that the price is very consistent for Amsterdam."

"Everyone that worked at the hotel was very helpful, friendly and personable. The thing we did not like was there was a 2 - 4 inch topper mattress that was put over the mattress on the bed. The topper was not the correct size and it moved around. You couldn't sit on the edge of the bed without sliding off and the sheet kept coming off."

"The hotel and rooms are gorgeous and in a great location. The staff is excellent and very helpful. The bed was very comfortable, the bathroom was great and the room was huge, which is not a common thing among hotels in Europe... so this was a definite plus for our last night in Europe, before a long flight home the next day. Also, our room had a wall of windows with a view of the water. All in all great. The only reason I didn't give 5/5 is because the people in the room above us were extremely loud, heavy walkers, banging and slamming things down on the floor above us until about 1030pm, it resumed for the majority of the next morning. This is obviously not controllable or at the fault of the hotel - and keeping in mind that it is a very old building, where perfect sound-proofing is not possible. There was not other crazy noice issues, but the elephants above did drag the experience down a little bit."
