Really nice looking property with easy parking. Food was excellent and location was out of the way quiet but still easy to get to. Some negatives was that the matteress was old and soft so you rolled toward the center and one of the receptionists had limited people skills. No conversation loke 'good morning, how was your stay.... anything and one of the advertised benefits of that roaring fire was not kept alight so any though of having a drink after dinner infront of it ..you can forget. Consideringvwe were there when it was snowing what a missed opportunity. Rest of the team were good. Would i go back.... no, i dont think so as the beds so bad, foods pricy ( but amazing) and the lounge a bit unwelcoming without that roaring fire.

The hotel is in a lovely setting and has the potential to be great but the shower hose spurted water everywhere and it was impossible to turn the bath taps so had to fill the bath with the spurting shower. The decoration in the room was tired. It needs investment to get it up to scratch. On a plus point, the room was very clean, the food was very good, the restaurant very nice and the staff were lovely.

The property was very clean, amd the surroundings absolutely lovely, even despite the heavy rain of storm Claudia. It's an old, OLD building, so some creaks and age-related setbacks were expected. However it does seem that the maintenance team is slacking somewhat. Mine and my neighbours' toilets had poor drain venting, and would gurgle loudly. A few electrical sockets were loose or broken. The electric radiator seemed to struggle to keep a comfortable temperature on colder nights (0°C), having been placed bizarrely next to the old single-pane windows. The staff however were top-notch and the hotel was pristinely clean, with quite a solid breakfast option. Parking was quite plentiful, but beware the kerbs and dips in lowered cars. Overall a nice experience, but maintenance could be better.

We stayed for one night and was in the cottage rooms, which needs a revamp. The rooms look tired and there was a constant dripping sound! It really didnt feel like a 4 star hotel. On the plus side the staff were very helpful and friendly, we never had food so cant comment on that! If we stayed again we'd want to stay in the main hotel.

A worn out hotel Arrived 5 minutes after kitchen last orders and advised no food was possible and was given my rooms, having booked main house double rooms i was given 2 single rooms in the annnex building. Receptionist was completely uninterested blaming hotels.com and no other rings were avaliable and that no refund of the price difference was offered. The annex rooms were poor at best, badly decorated and very dirty, evidence of damp in the paint marks, a worn out single bed with a mattress clearly passed it's prime. The pictures on the walls one had a smashed glass and the remains were still stuck in the frame. To top it off in the morning the shower was cold. This place might look good in the images but in reality it's one of the worst places I've stayed.

Lovely location. Quiet cottage room. Furniture dated but very clean and everything one would expect : iron, safe and kettle. Comfy bed. Entrance to room smelt a little musty but room was warm and no damp. Tiny shower room- beautiful but would be a squeeze if one is not slim .

Allocated wrong room from what I booked, complained and the response was oh well. Very rude breakfast waitress, she should not be customer facing. Will not return.
