Service was very good. Maintenance staff was very nice. The rooms were very out dated. I feel like we got the misfit rooms. The frig had been turned off. Once turned on it leaked. Bathroom sink wouldnt drain. Air conditioner didnt cool the room. Front tv didnt work. Towel bars were loose. Lots of lightbulbs were out or flickering. Also found a bug. Took it down stairs to management. Every staff member was great!

Our room was the problem. The toilet paper holder was sitting on the bathroom counter (wood piece with the actual toilet paper hardware and screw on the counter) the AC fan was super loud! I could not get it to set to automatic it just kept running we couldn't sleep! So we just shut it down. It was late, we were tired and we weren't going to wait for maintenance! We have stayed in many Embassy's all over the US and this has been my only disappointing experience.

The hotel is very nostalgic to the Embassy suites from the 1980-1990s time period. There could be some touchups done to improve the cleanliness of the hotel but overall the hotel is in a great location.

For the price I paid to stay here- there is no reason I should have had a leaking shower and faucet in the bathroom. There was no toilet paper in the room and only 2 towels. Wouldn’t stay again especially for the price.

The staff at The Embassy Suites in Des Moines was simply amazing!! Eddie gave me a room upgrade because I had four teenage girls with me and was going to sleep on the couch. He moved us to a two room suite so I would have a bed too and it was so incredibly nice of him. Then my teenagers were still sleeping and were going to miss breakfast so the staff made up to go boxes for me to take up to the room! How very kind of them! I will definitely be staying again. Thank you to the Embassy staff - I’m very grateful for their kindness and generosity.

This place was very clean, the accommodations and the staff were nice. The property definitely needs some updating. The furniture is old stained, rundown and chipping, the beds in the room were very uncomfortable. The location of this property is great. *** heads up, you do have to pay for parking.

We were rights next to the ice maker and it was leaking and was right next to our room and the water from that came in and the floor was soaked to the ppint of every step you took you cound see the water around your shoe the worst part was getting up and walking around bare footed was quite the surprise .let staff know and they showed up to clean up around the ice machine next to the room would have liked to have heard a thank you or something but nothing was said the staff was very friendly on cheak in not the same when checking out

I felt that the poop needed improvement just like the rooms they need it an upgrade on furniture better mattress and cleaner room it was dusty and found items that did not belong to us. The hotel was run down and showing its age. Our hotel room had a hole in the wall, stitching was ripped on the coach cushions, furniture was chipped and wood work needed to be painted. It reminded us of a lower end hotel and did not the cost. There was no a mattress pad on the bed.

Bathroom was dirty and had dirt in the corners. The carpet trim on the walls was falling off. Pool was horrible and the whole area cold and door rusted out. The beds were small and the sofa bed was horrendous

Great Stay
Great stay at the Embassy Suites. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Every section of the hotel was spotlessly clean. The only issue we had(I use issue loosely) was regulating the temperature in the room. Would highly recommend this property.

Stayed at Embassy Suites on the River last night while attending a concert at Wooly’s. Convenient 5-minute walk from the hotel which was great! Also, had dinner and drinks before the concert at Bar Nico which is just a couple buildings down from Wooly’s. Overall a great experience. However, I was not very impressed by our room at the hotel. Although it was clean and the bed was comfortable, it was pretty outdated and the shower pressure in room 709 was poor. Check-in experience was average but nothing I would expect from a Hilton property. They also removed all of the vending machines from the ice kiosks and now make you go to their snack shop on the main level and pay 3x the cost. $13 for 2 bottles of water and 2 bags of popcorn. Was also disappointed that the hotel bar closed at midnight on a Friday night.

Disappointed
Very disappointed. Tried to check in on time and they didn’t have a room ready. When they finally gave me a room it was not clean. There was a swimsuit hanging in the shower, poop on the toilet, and generally not cleaned. We found a contact in the bed sheets too. They eventually came and cleaned the room. Also, I had paid for a premium room which was supposed to have a bunch of in room snacks but those weren’t there either. Had to argue to get those included. Very disappointing because we have been staying at this location for years and they have been getting progressively worse. I no longer can say I recommend this hotel.

I have stayed at this property many times over many years. The property has not been maintained. Tables, doors, and furniture are chipped, beat up and dirty. We would not sit on the sofa or use the ottoman because of the stains. We had to use the pull-out bed in the sofa and it did appear clean. The sheets however were stained. I expected much more for the price paid to stay.
