Our experience in June 2025 was unfortunately very disappointing. Despite the premium price tag, the property fell far short of expectations. The living room only had two couches, which was inadequate for our group. Several fixtures didn’t work, and parts of the walls were completely unpainted—giving the space an unfinished feel.
We also had five separate incidents where cars were parked in our assigned spot. Each time, we had to deal with the hassle of contacting a tow company ourselves, which took time away from our trip. To make matters worse, the grill caught on fire due to severe rust damage and poor maintenance.
The unit’s location is the first on the private beach side, which sounds ideal—but in practice, it meant daily confrontations with individuals from the public beach setting up directly in front of our space, sometimes even taking our chairs and umbrellas. There was no consistent enforcement of the private beach boundary, making the experience stressful and frustrating.
To Vacasa’s credit, after some back and forth, they acknowledged that our stay did not meet their standards and refunded 15% of our booking. I appreciate that gesture.
There were two positives: the unit does have direct beach access, which is a major convenience when traveling with family—no long treks with carts or coolers. Also, the kids really enjoyed the two small arcade machines (Pac-Man and NBA Jam), and we had some fun family moments playing those together.
That said, we visit Destin every year, and this was the first time we’ve been truly let down. We won’t be returning to this particular property.
