“A classic hotel with comfortable, spacious rooms. Friendly and competent receptionists. Nice breakfast. Continent breakfast self-served buffet or hot, customised English breakfast That take quite a while. If come by train, need to get a taxi ride of 8-10 minutes. We arrived late in the evening. Have to queue for half an hour at the taxi stop.”

“Overnight stay after an afternoon at the races. Cannot fault the hotel at all, perfect position, room with view of course, handy for railway station, excellent breakfast. Would definitely stay again. Also got better deal with expedia than our friends who booked direct with hotel. Thank you. ”

“The inn/pub was well attended with nice staff. Our only complaint was that there wasn't any salad option on the menu...not even the old caesar in a bag. As it was a work stay, one can only eat so many meat and chips.”

“I really enjoyed my stay eventhough at the beginning I had a room where my tv did not work but the member of staff was so helpful when I explained this . He said someone would come but they did not come so I went back to him and also told him how my towels were soiled. He changed my room . I had a great sleep and he cooked a great breakfast . He works really hard and was nice . Respect for the staff member who was the only one I saw there on my stay doing everything . ”

“Overnight stop en route from London to Keswick. We were made very welcome by reception and the room was warm, clean and comfortable, especially the bed. The evening meal was pricey for what was basically a bar meal, but the quality was high. We would have welcomed a "Senior's Portion" as we felt unable to tackle the attractive dessert menu. In the morning, a hot shower and a excellent hearty breakfast set us on our way.”
