Home away from home
I can't say enough about our stay. They literally though of everything possible that one could need plus some. As soon as you walk in, it just feels like home. Kathie left fresh Pumpkin muffins on the table for us upon arrival. The property in itself is breathtaking. We spent hours on the porch off of the living room. We were lucky enough to get a little storm during our stay so we got to enjoy the storm on the porch and watch as the lightening and fireflies lit up the night. It was a magical experience. The fish were jumping and ready to eat, unfortunately, they didn't like our dinner lol I am so glad that we were able to find this gem, and so close to home at that. It is only a 25 minute drive from home so we will definitely be making this a regular getaway. Thank you Bill and Kathie for sharing your amazing place with us!

Honeymoon bliss!
My husband and I spent a week at the cabin for our honeymoon, and it was amazing! It's such a peaceful and tranquil area. We spent most of our time sitting out on the patio area or down by the river, just listening to nature. The cabin itself is lovely, too. Very comfy bed, nice bathroom, updated and well-stocked kitchen. We highly recommend staying, even if just for a weekend!

Weekend getaway
The online pictures were great but the actual views even better! The cabin was cozy and relaxing which was perfect for our rainy weekend. We are looking forward to booking again in warmer weather so we can take advantage of the beautiful property and river.

Perfectly Cozy
The cabin was so comfortable! I loved everything - heated tile floors, the heater over the toilet, jet tub, huge picture windows overlooking the river, everything you need in a kitchen with added bonuses like coffee, creamers, hot chocolate and condiments - you know the things you always forget to bring! They also left fresh farm eggs and muffins, yum! Our dogs loved running down the hill and smelling all the wildlife. Deer came a visited both days. We truly enjoyed the space.

Wonderful!
Cozy and comfortable cabin. Very clean and lots of attention to small comforts (very well stocked kitchen, heated tile floors, memory foam mattress, washer/dryer, jacuzzi tub--to mention a few). Property is very private with river frontage and access. Our 2 Labs absolutely loved running around! Owners are very responsive and helpful. It was a great stay!

Our second stay at Fireflies and it was amazing! Last stay was in the spring , this stay fall , equally beautiful. The cabin is amazingly clean and well stocked , we really enjoyed the muffins and fresh eggs ! Will be back !

I have nothing but good things to say! The owners were extremely hospitable and gracious. They have thought about everything that a guest may need and keep the property well stocked…the setup is very thoughtful.

Get away
A welcome weekend get-away to celebrate our anniversary. Peace and quiet, nature, and a walk on the New River Trail with the dogs. Just what we wanted. The house is a nice design for a couple, overlooking the New River. Only problem was taking a weekend off from deer hunting and watching all the deer on the property including one very impressive buck. Great weekend.

Amazing cabin getaway
The property is amazing! Our dog loved the river and the fields. The cabin had everything we could have needed. It is a little bit tricky navigating the steep hill and steep ramp down to the river dock, but totally worth it! We absolutely loved our stay and were already planning/dreaming about coming back again sometime.

The cottage was very cleaned, well equipped, beautiful landscape and river view. Owners even threw in a few perks like her homemade pumpkin muffins and farm fresh eggs. Our dogs enjoyed the big yard to run around freely. We really enjoyed our stay and will be back.

Quiet weekend
We came to visit during family weekend at VT and it turned out to be a bit more of a drive than we expected;-) The cabin was easy to find and it was lovely. It’s quiet, we’ll stocked and very comfy. The scenery is beautiful and if you’re looking for a quiet mini-staycation this is the perfect spot! Bring what you need and you can just relax to your heart’s content.

Lovely cabin and hosts
The cabin is cozy, well-stocked, and very clean. The bed was comfortable and the couch reclined. The location by the river is beautiful, quiet, and has easy access to the New River Trail. We cycled during the day and relaxed in the evenings including a movie night and sitting by the fire pit (remarkably comfortable outdoor chairs too). The hosts had pumpkin muffins and fresh eggs waiting for us and immediately brought firewood when we asked. Wifi is very good. We streamed movies and music without any trouble. We also had it for calls (no cell signal in the area).

All we hoped for - and more!
The property is hilly, quiet and peaceful, an ideal setting for a relaxing getaway. The cabin itself exceeded our expectations. The interior of the cabin is beautifully decorated and the bed and furniture are very comfortable.The cabin is stocked with everything you might need - from kitchen items to books and games. The covered porches were a great place to relax and unwind, and our dog loved the property too!

Lovely yard and quiet. The cabin was well supplied and clean. Please inform guests they must bring water for coffee, ice cubes and drinking. Plus would be good to know the grill is charcoal to pack appropriately. The Deep tub could use a handle for safe entry. We chose this vacation rental due to a little fishing dock on site so my partner could fish while I biked NYT. However the wooden ramp was over 45 degree incline so not safe to get down to the dock.

Cabin was very nice. Our only problem was the river access. The use of a very steep ramp to get to the dock is just dangerous. Steps are needed.

The ramp is necessary for this dock as the level of the river can fluctuate significantly. The dock angle changes as the level of the river water changes. If we had steps in place of the ramp when the dock is up and level, the steps would not be useable. We placed a railing on the dock to assist when the dock is steep.

Amazing visit. Quiet and serene...
Amazing stay. Owners are very thoughtful and respond almost immediately. Had no issues at all. They left muffins and eggs from their chickens for us and they were delicious! We weren't able to take advantage of the kayaks due to weather, but we fished every day and relaxed on the porch. Very quiet and lovely. The accommodations are cozy and there is plenty to read, games to play, and their TV has a ton of channels for any genre you may like. Only recommendations would be to bring your own chef knife and a good quality non-stick pan if you like to cook. The knives present aren't sharp as in most VRBOs because usually people that vacation abuse them and the pans are aluminum and stainless steel. Even with that, everything is there in abundance to cook whatever you need. The coffee selection is great as well! Outside is gorgeous. Plenty of room to roam for a quiet walk and lots to do in the area if you like the outdoors. The Red Hill General Store was awesome and a great nostalgic adventure. Visit the local farmers markets for produce and such. A lot of gems in them. We will definitely be back at this place in the future.

Bring all your senses, beautiful view, intense quiet, pretty spring smells, sounds of fish jumping and birds singing. The only down fall is not great restaurants in the area but if you like to cook the cabin has it all for you. Owners are so nice and leave you to your thing.

Wonderful Getaway!
Super relaxing and plum filled with serenity! An amazing property with a quiet comforts you only dream of! Extremely well stocked and owners were easily accessible, as I had a couple random questions. Newly built cabin...this place is a gem! Loved the New River as our closest neighbor. Patrick was great. Super unassuming and flexible, he responded well to our dog Coco and followed her lead smoothly. He's a sweetheart and is great with people and other dogs. Beautiful view...deer in view.... everything was fantastic!

Amazing riverfront cabin
My adult daughter and I had a lovely 2 day/night stay over New Year's. The property is exceptionally well-stocked, clean, with all sorts of extras (bbq, kayaks, dog poop scoopers, etc.). Rolling hills down to the river make for lovely walks. We were sad to check-out but hope to be back.

Wonderful cabin!
Absolutely loved this gem of cabin! It had everything - and I mean everything - you could possibly need. Super comfortable, lots of interesting books. The view of the river and surrounding area was amazing, but even more breathtaking were the million bright stars at night. The thoughtful owners left us fresh eggs from their hens and the most delicious apple cake. We felt so welcome and Patrick the sweet dog stopped by to say hello to our dog Winston. We would love to come back when the weather is warmer as we have family in the area.

Our stay was quiet and relaxing. The cabin is beautiful and extremely clean with many thoughtful extras placed by the hosts. River views from large windows make you feel like you are outside even when the weather is not great.

Cozy Cabin on the River!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Fireflies. The cabin was fully stocked with everything you need, it was like being at home, but away in the mountains. The property on the lake and the views were amazing! And to top it off, the hosts left homemade pumpkins muffins and fresh eggs from their chickens - what a lovely touch!!! Can't wait to go back!!!

Nice Retreat
We had such a nice, relaxing stay! The property is in a beautiful and fairly private location. There’s literally everything you need from toiletries, condiments, extra sheets, and games. Fresh eggs and muffins awaited us when we first walked in. There’s also river behind the spacious backyard. Between the location and proximity to attractions in the area within 15-20 minutes, we really enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back!

Verdant hillside beauty!
My family had a wonderful time at Fireflies! The property is lush and beautiful with a terrific view of the river through the trees. My nieces really enjoyed swimming in the river and learning to kayak. Our German Shepherd, Hilde, enjoyed swimming with the girls, chasing them up and down the hill and meeting Bill and Kathy's dog, Patrick. Unfortunately, I spent the week working while the fam played but I'm happy to report the WIFI internet was capable and I worked from cabin the entire time with no issues. We have tmobile cell service and I will mention we had no reception in the area, at all. Not a ding on the cabin/property just an FYI to folks =) Luckily we could connect to WIFI calling at the cabin but that only works inside and on the porches. The huge jacuzzi tub was a big part of my personal relaxation and the hubby used it to soothe his sore muscles from running up and down the hill after the kids =) All in all we had a wonderful time. Kathy has the cabin SO WELL STOCKED with any and everything you need from pantry items, coffee, cream, spices, teas, seasonings, games, books, towels, TP, bath salts, shampoos, and on and on. Thank you for the muffins Kathy and your terrific attention to detail. The hubby and I would love to come one day just the two of us!
