Beautiful cabin with a lake view in the woods in a super chill part of Colorado!
This is the cabin in the woods in Durango that you've been dreaming about! Its an easy drive from Durango, a short walk to a lake and hiking trails, close to a hot spring resport and a charming downtown. The views are picture perfect and the vibe in the cabin is spot on Colorado chill. I am already looking for a reason to go back!

Ahhhhh-mazing!
We absolutely LOVED spending time a the Lemon Lake Log Cabin. These hosts have thought of everything. It's fully stocked and easy to find the things you need (or in our case forgot!). We really appreciated being able to enjoy espressos every morning and cozy around a game or two every eve. It's so peaceful and the views are stunning! We never wanted to leave, but when we did, it was super easy and quick to get into town. Highly recommend this for a family or girls trip!

Amazing Retreat with ALL the amenities
I recently spent 3 nights in the Barn as part of a girls trip and it far exceeded my expectations. No detail was left out! Quiet and secluded with just a short 30 minute drive to town. Foodies and coffee lovers rejoice - all the cooking gear you need plus beautiful ceramic plates and glasses. There was more than enough comfortable space to hang out inside and out. Even the small fold out beds are comfortable which really surprised and delighted me. Tons of extra towels and blankets. I will absolutely be back.

How soon can I get back to Lemon Lake Log Cabin?
I could have camped out at this beautiful log cabin for months. It sits above the reservoir amidst the Colorado Aspens. Hearing the rushing water from the creek on property was music to my ears. It was the perfect respite from our busy Los Angeles life. The cabin has all the amenities, including a Breville espresso machine. The beds were cozy, and the trap door to the living space downstairs was a huge surprise. This cabin comfortably slept a handful of women for our Mother's Day weekend getaway. I spent a morning walking along the water's edge on the reservoir. Admired wild turkeys parading outside. Cozy naps. And a day trip to Durango Hot Springs about 30 minutes away. It was perfect!

Amazing Retreat in the Woods, great for family and friends
This log cabin in the woods was even better than I thought it was going to be...and I had high expectations. First, the location is perfect...great views, easy lake access, lots of great hiking trails, but still close enough to all the sights of Durango to give you way too many choices. Second, the cabin to cozy and rustic with a great vibe, but surprisingly large...six of us stayed in the cabin and had more than enough room (could easily accommodate more). Both bathrooms were well appointed and the laundry room was a huge plus. Third, I often select out of the way locations for our family get-togethers and never have high expectations for the wifi and connectivity, but this place was great. Easy to connect and it allowed several of us to stream on our screens at the same time...not that we did much streaming because there was just so much to do!!! My favorite part was just sitting out on the large deck, with a glass of wine, enjoying the views and the silence. Absolute perfection!!!

In Love with Lemon Lake Lodge
I loved my recent stay at Lemon Lake Lodge. I stayed with friends in the Barn. It was the perfect setting for a ladies' reconnection weekend, and I immediately felt so at home (literally, I felt like I lived there, and it thus seemed very wrong to have to leave a few days later!). The interior was perfect—everything was comfortable and aesthetically pleasing (the owners obviously have great taste), from the furnishings to the kitchen appliances to tableware. The common area invited thoughtful reflection, soulful conversation, reading, napping. The second floor consisted of a big spacious open room with a queen bed and two cute singles (plus, more bedding available for additional guests, and a bathroom). The view from the second floor window was beautiful--what a way to wake up! In the outskirts of Durango, the property is remote and feels incredibly serene. We saw wild turkeys roaming about, as well as what I think was a badger. Downtown Durango and the amazing Durango Hot Springs is just a (gorgeous) 30 minute or so drive away. It was a dreamy and rejuvenating stay. Can't wait to go back one day!
My husband and I brought our dog with us on our second trip to the experience the incredible beauty of Durango while escaping the Arizona heat.
We were seeking a property removed from the city and offering incredible views of the forest, wildlife and mountains.
While the cabin did offer beautiful views of the lake while sitting on the deck and allowed us to see some of the local wildlife, we were not expecting another property so close to where we were staying and thought more trails would be on the property.
However, our biggest disappointment was inside the cabin. The railings on the interior staircase are loose, creating a hazard. Flyswatters were in multiple locations throughout the house, offering a less than desirable effect. This fly issue was particularly evident at the kitchen door area. As a result, we opened this door when absolutely necessary. Although one main goal was to have a forest experience, we did not expect it to include fly infestation. While offered use of the spices in the pantry, all were expired.
We both used the downstairs shower since the upstairs was smaller than the photo, but my first use revealed a large clump of hair in the drain.
Similar circumstances existed with the dryer vent when I washed towels and found the dryer lint filter completely overflowing.
Taken individually, these may seem like minor details but for the price paid and expectations given, unfortunately the conditions at the historic log cabin fell short.
Beautiful mountain location overlooking the water. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Cabin was clean and well-appointed. Everything we needed was there. Comfortable beds. Deck has ample seating for enjoying the view. Deck rails in poor condition. Top rail needs replacing. Make sure to check in before arriving at cabin. No internet or cell service available until you get inside.
The information provided in the description was misleading to say the least. The location was more remote than was described, the cabin was not as updated as indicated in the description. The cabin was much smaller than explained, the furniture was old and uncomfortable, access was difficult and the landline did not work. We actually ended up renting another place that met our standards..
The deck area is unbeatable, but it doesn't make up for the issues inside the cabin. This could be a dream spot if the conditions of the cabin matched the deck.
The management was great and responsive and the place is wonderful. The cabin is rustic which is what we wanted, just be aware that when you get a rustic cabin you can expect some bugs and imperfections.
Location is beautiful and serene with the deck overlooking Lemon Reservoir and tons of access to nearby trails and creek fishing! Oh, and if you do fly fish you will want to add a couple extra days just to parse through the library of books they have.
I wouldn't be dissuaded from renting here again but here are some things to just keep in mind. Cobwebs on lights and very outdated appliances in the kitchen that were a bit finicky to work with. If you plan on making your meals here just know that things are not in the best condition. The kitchen does have quite a few seasonings, condiments, etc. but they need to be sorted out as a lot of them are expired.
One of the showers appeared to have not been cleaned and there are only four chairs with the dining table on the deck and no dining table inside. Bring your own soap, shampoo, and conditioner unless you're ok with a 3-1 bottle that is provided for in the showers.
Amazing firepit with plenty of wood provided and a couple of outdoor propane heaters on the deck were great to use on cooler mornings during breakfast. Overall, a great rustic experience, but at the price point I would expect a bit more from the kitchen and seating for eating with more than just four people. Some chairs for the firepit wouldn't hurt either.
very comfortable for 5 adults, and room for more. Very clean, great setting and views.
Steep road from highway, would be difficult with snow/ice. Access to cabin is up one level of stairs on front and steps on back. Front stairs are very steep and handrails are too large of diameter to get ahold of adequately (not good for elderly).
Somewhat rustic, older home but comfortable. No dining table, only 3 stools at kitchen counter bar.
Secluded and beautiful views. loved the fireplace. Would definitely rent again.
