When we arrived, I did my normal wipe down of surfaces for sanitation purposes as I do at every place we stay. What I did not expect is to find that the condo was filthy! The cleaning wipes I used were black after wiping everything down. There was dirt on the bathroom sink, stains on the rim of toilet, and the shower was covered in soap scum. The kitchen appliances were dirty, with the stove looking like something had boiled over and no one wiped it up. I had to sweep the entire condo as there was dirt and crumbs on every seat. When I moved the nightstand slightly to vacuum, I found a pair of men’s underwear! Definitely didn’t give us a good feeling that anything had been cleaned.
The local office was already closed, not sure why it would close at 5 when check in was at 4. We called vacasa and spoke to numerous people and shared photos of the condition of the condo. After several hours, we finally heard from a manager named Marty. We were at the point of leaving and staying elsewhere for the night. Marty came over with new linens and bedding, and also offered for us to stay at another unit. We decided to stay since we had already cleaned and vacuumed. While our experience was not great, I do appreciate Marty’s prompt response on that first day. I told him to please review the photos we sent, and asked for some sort of refund. We had to follow up with him on our last day and he did refund the cleaning fee.
This unit is in desperate need of a deep clean, new paint, and new furniture. The chair in the living room was so torn up and peeling, it definitely needs to be thrown out. Overall, I would not rent this condo again and I would think twice about booking through Vacasa again.
